I go hunting occasionally. I got into it in college with a couple of fraternity brothers. Had a good time with it, but only do so once in a while.
Mainly during pheasant season at the beginning of November out in western Kansas. Going around killing things frequently doesn't do too much for me however.

My whole family hunts. The meat feeds the family for the entire year. My dad is going to take my oldest son out hunting for a week in November, and he's going to make the drive over (4.5 hrs) to go through hunter's safety w/ him, too.

I have in the past, but haven't for a bit. Still love going shooting though. The best was I had some coworkers that took me hunting along with them to watch (they do real hunting with bows and arrows that they make themselves).

I only hunt birds: mostly duck, grouse & pheasant. I really can't bring myself to shoot a deer or elk, or even a rabbit. I'm deadly with a shotgun, and used to keep myself in practice by going to skeet ranges. I've stopped doing it since moving here to Florida, where we don't have much of that.

I'm also rather good with an open bow, actually took a college course in it and got the only A in the class. But I don't hunt with one.

Grew up hunting and fishing, still do it. We bagged 3 deer this past season. Not into smaller game, buddy of mine wants to go bear hunting, but I'm fond of big hairy men, so maybe not so much.

Great post! I hunt as well! Lately I haven't deer hunted as regularly as I used to and haven't hunted turkey since I was a kid, but I go bird hunting a ton. My parents have 2 german shorthair pointers so I am always going quail and pheasant hunting with my dad in the fall and winter.

I love hunting! Most people are shocked when I tell them and say they can't picture me hunting. Grew up hunting deer, birds (grouse and pheasant), turkey, antelope, elk, etc. Love to fish as well. One of my favorite trips was a fishing trip up to northern Canada.

Picks of my 5X5 whitetail buck I shot this year will follow!

I've shot bear, moose, caribou and a porcupine. It's pretty fun and along with hunting I love to fish. Alaska is great for both hunting and fishing.

Used to hunt duck, but only do it if I know it won't be wasted. Just something I was taught by my Dad. But don't have a problem with it. Never hunted deer simply because I hate the taste.
My spaniel would be a kick-ass bird dog, so that would be a kick to train him. He'd have a blast. Compact, some Boykin in him (Carolina hunting dog...they spring through marsh like deer - literally leap off all fours over and through, wild and funny as hell) He's a determined little bugger! I love that about him.
Once thought about learning bow hunting for wild hog, sometime, but VERY hard to find cool guys to hunt with. Bubba'gump land here in Central FL.
Fishing, lots easier, and deep sea fishing is a favorite pastime of mine. That is something I do at least four to six times a year.
But haven't been hunting since I was in my 20's. It would be a great thing to do with a BF if he was into it. Just not fun to do alone, frankly. Having a BF who liked it and made it something we did, together - BIG on the wish list.

I hunt quite a bit myself...mostly ducks and wild turkeys in recent years...I do taxidermy mounts of some of the ducks I shoot.

It's been a few years since I've shot any deer.

This is one of those possible apocalypse skills I wish I had. :-(
BUT seven kids, 1 dad, meant he was working, with no time for things like hunting (and since he had a dad, he didn't even know what he was doing...)

    sad.

Hunting... I grew up hunting everything. I would consistently get another gun for my birthday, Christmas, Easter, St. Patricks Day, Flag day.... and so on....

Many gay people don't get hunting, don't get guns, and frequently exchange insults with me regarding my knowledge of guns, hunting, etc..... I don't make excuses. However, I don't post my hunting photos either.

Insults "they" have exchanged with me include:

    Redneck
    Hick
    Bambi-killer
    Asshole
    Karma-killer (WTF?)
    Not worthy-gay-card-holder (most lame insult)

Not to be too critical of Californians; however, most of the insults originate from the candy-ass beach boys... who don't get it.

Its great to know that there are other guys on here like me! LOL
