So that is my local news. If you go down and read the comments it has some pretty disturbing trends. All the comments that say perversion at its finest or referring to gay and lesbian people on the same level as beastilaty have +5 +20 thumbs up. Then comments defending the couples rights have -10 -15 thumbs.

It just makes me realize that the entire world still hates us and we will never be treated equally.

Everytime someone calls a gay person a pervert, or equates sames sex relationships as the equivalent of having a relationship with a farm animal it makes me wonder what they do on their own time.

I mean...do normal people seriously sit there and think about having sex with donkeys...in all honesty the thought would never cross my mind. I couldn't care less what any couple, gay or straight does in the bedroom so why does the majority of the opposition seem so obsessed with those aspects of things. If you ask me they're the biggest perverts of all.

Isn't this Michelle Bachmann's district? Her district covers most of the northern suburbs of Minneapolis/St. Paul.

I don't understand the problem here. Most of the people posting negative comments are being rebuked. The site also appears to have an "IntenseDebate Reputation Meter," the homophobic posters appear to be rated in the negatives and probably aren't very popular on the site nor in real life.
This seems more uplifting and comforting than threatening.

You think that's bad? Just read the littany of comments from some of the blithering idiots on this website who despise gay people who they find "queeny."

The comments in this story seem to pale by comparison!

Champlin Park high school is not part of her district, since it's located in Brooklyn Park, MN. That district is represented by Erik Paulsen, who represents the Hennepin County suburbs, basically.

Although about time that someone finally stuck it to the Anoka-Hennepin school district. I hope that they get Snow Daze royalty. icon_biggrin.gif

Not true. We have made TREMENDOUS strides and will continue to do so. What you are seeing is reaction by those who feel threatened by our progress. Easy for them to do from the safety of a blog post. Nevertheless, they are on the losing side.

Well it seems to be the general conclusion from comments I read even on supportively liberal sites like msnbc. I guess you are right though that these people can hide online. I wonder what they are like in real life.

I quite agree Trent. Gays hating gays is not really a step in the right direction I think. There's enough hate for gays outside the community to add to the list does not make gay life or its freedoms any easier.

    I agree, Meta.

There is a significant point in the article that should not be overlooked. The couple was elected to the royal court by the student body.

Two thumbs up to the Champlin Park student body for being inclusive.

"Promotion of homosexual orientation is a matter left for discussions with family at home. It has no place in public schools. This Democrat sexual social experiment in our schools is one reason why we have a high dropout rate and illiterate high school graduates. The dumbing down of children to create another generation of liberal voters. These alleged lesbian teenagers seeking publicity and disruption established norms are an example of why public schools are dysfunctional. Pull your kids out of this school district or vote OUT the school board."

    Lmfao!

I didnt care about this right up until they said the reason they wanted to do it was to make a "political statement." The entire gay/lesbian marital movement has nothing to do about be treated equal they can be together all they want they just want the money benefits of being married. Its all about the money. Marriage is a religious issue not a political issue. Now in the case of the girls why should they do it for a political statement? why not just because they want to act they way the usually do? Dont force this BS movement on the people that dont want to hear it do what you want in your own homes but dont preach your crap to me because you want to make a political statement I dont want to hear it!

HAHAHA! I found this one from Jake Benson:

Oh my God I CAN'T BELIEVE HOMOSEXUALS ARE FREE to walk together. What next, no more Black slavery? Women's voting rights? People, we need to band together with our bias and our Bibles as apocryphal resources in order to preserve the United States as a White heterosexual Christian male nation. We cannot allow people to be happy when it makes us all upset for no logical reason. And I am personally upset that I was in the hospital the other day and a woman was a Doctor! Yes gentlemen, A WOMAN! What next, a black president? This is so ridiculous. I'm so ****ed I'm going to make love to my homosexual boyfriend twice tonight in order to vent. I just can't believe homosexuals are allowed to be homosexuals. This is absurd.

LMAO.. I'd love to ask that asshole if he/she is willing to give up the money from HIS/HER marriage benefit and the state (political) sanction/recognition that comes with it.
The religious aspect is only within the walls of the church. Thats where it ends..

Um, Normal?? You mean straight people? If they are "normal", what are we? I would refer to straight people as "straight" and gay as "gay"

    There isn't "normal"!

Just as with politics, you have to remember that it's usually the phobics that get worked up enough to post comments. All those thumbs-down neanderthals do not represent a majority position - just the position of those still stupid enough to get flamed up every time a gay person shows some courage.
