How are you staying active this winter?

New York has had its snowiest January on record, and I find that during the cold winter months, it can be kind of hard to get moving and stay focused on a workout regimen.

What are you doing to stay fit? I've found that shoveling heavy snow works wonders for the upper body, but I'm curious to hear what else people are doing.

running and xcountry skiing, both classic and skating style.
odd mountain biking when trails are hard packed by showshoers.

    plus gym of course.

ah, and splitting and carrying wood .

don't have to do much snow shoveling which is not a great workout unless you can switch hands . tractors and blowers are much more fun.

Even with all the snow here in NYC, I've been able to get in about 30 miles of running per week. The Under Armour helps.

Snow has no effect on whether I make it to the gym. I'll bobsled there if I have to.

Doing my workouts and cardio as planned, the snow here has not been so terrible that things have shut down. That might change on Tuesday if the weather forecast is right.

I'm spoiled and don't really have a winter. Rain is all I have to contend with and there's plenty of indoor activities to do around here anyway.

I run, like everyone is in a crisis. icon_razz.gif Serious though, I run on the treadmill five times per week, for forty minutes. After that, I do push-ups, crunches, leg lifts, and jumping jacks. Just simple basic stuff. icon_smile.gif

    Haha win!

It hasn't been bad here in Georgia. It has been almost 70 and sunny the past few days. Spent all day outside in shorts and short sleeves! icon_cool.gif

The winter in Vancouver has been characteristically mild, so I've been able to run outside. In fact, I already notice tulips starting to poke out of the ground, so spring seems to be just around the corner.
