They say the system is going to "explode" as our weatherman put it...

I'd prefer a different sort of system exploding.... lol

ummm... south Florida's got a warming spell right now, all upper 70s and low 80s for the next 10 days, and little chance of rain until the 8th or 9th of Feb. Come on down! icon_biggrin.gif

Well, I guess that was part of the idea... icon_redface.gif

But you could still come down and enjoy it, too! At least some RJers might.

It's getting icy now in St. Louis. No snow yet, but they're predicting 8" of snow on top of the hard shell of ice that's currently encasing the city.

Snow plus high wind is what defines a blizzard.

Allow me to rub it in just a bit more....Here in Orlando, we'll hit 80 degrees on Wednesday. It should be nice, but when it gets hot and muggy here, I'll take 10,000 inches of snow anyday!!

I commute in that blizzard area, in southern Canada. I take my monthly vacation from mid January to mid February, to avoid those deadly morning commutes in snowstorms. Some years I waste my vacation. This year, it has snowed almost every day. I wake up, around 5, look through the blinds, and go back to bed laughing, knowing that my coworkers are dealing with it, and I'm languishing in a bed a feathers.

Atlanta already got its snow. No snow for us! I think to lowest temperatures we are getting during the day are in the 50s. I am very glad. I am over snow. The only time I want to see it is when I go somewhere to go skiing

God save us from the TV weatherman breathless hype.

There is such a thing as an explosively developing storm (cyclone), but this one will not be an example.

However, the pressure difference between it and a fast intensifying high pressure area over the northern Rockies will produce very strong winds.

Strong winds with heavy snow = blizzard + ugly wind chills...
