Have the flu :(

    As the title says, I went to the doctor yesterday after being really sick for several days (one morning at 5:30 A.M., I had a temperature of about 104!), and after being tested, I found out I have the flu, type A influenza! icon_sad.gif It figures the one year I didn't come around to getting the flu shot, I catch the flu.

    It started Thursday night but really hit me Friday night. Yesterday and today, I have felt much better, but I am definitely still not myself. I guess my question is how long should I expect to be out of commission? I figure I will definitely be out of commission for this week, and hopefully by Sunday, I'll be good as new and ready to go. That would give me about a week and a half break from working out. Not too bad, and my muscles probably needed the break anyway.

    What do you guys think? I'm sure each case is different, and there is no universal answer here. I'm just looking for reasonable estimates, especially from those of you who have had this flu before. I just really don't want to have to wait any longer than Sunday! I'm dying to get started!

    This is going to be a long week!

    You can still do light exercises. Perhaps not weightlifting as your body may be achy/shaky.

    Three days asymptomatic, and you can be sure it's gone and you're good to go.

    I had a horrible bronchitis for 2 weeks. My cough still hasn't gone away but I went back to the gym once I wasn't coughing up nasty stuff and I didn't have general physical malaise.

    Thanks guys. I've been feeling much better the past couple of days. I think I should be good to go by Sunday, so that's when I plan on resuming. That gives me around a week and a half break. I'm ready! It's been too long! icon_smile.gif
