When i take creatine, i throw a teaspoon in a bottle of water, and shake it up like crazy, but it never seems to absorb into the water, and usually have to end up constantly shaking it before each sip, then refilling the bottle and starting over to get the residue thats still left out of the bottle. Is there some other liquid i could mix it with to get it to mix completely from the get go? My latest technique is to tilt my head back and hold the water back with my tongue, and wait for it all to settle there, then shotgun it down. Sipping it would be so much easier lol

Also, before a workout, or after? I've heard both answers, but just curious what the general opinion on here is icon_smile.gif I usually take it 30 minutes before cardio or lifting.

Thanx in advance for any responses icon_smile.gif

So, I've been told (and have read on bodybuilding.com) that to form the best possible solution of creatine (solute) and the liquid (solvent) it is best to use a liquid that has some form of sugar in it. I've yet to actually find this, but some people actually claim that you purchase an isolated form of dextrose to add to your water.

In terms of when to use: I have heard both answers as well.

I am currently using "SIZEON" (creatine gluconate, creatine phosphate, creatine magnesium chelate, and dicreatine malate) by Gaspari Nutrition. One of their supplement "experts" suggested I take 4 tablets in the morning and pre-workout (approx 30 min)

What kind of creatine do you use? monohydrate (the most basic form) or some complex form?

    best of luck to you

It's not easy to get creatine to mix well. I use it after a workout and mix it in the blender with milk and whey protein. Even then, if I don't drink it quickly the creatine settles to the bottom pretty quickly.

I have found that apple juice works well. You can but it in the small 6-8 oz bottles; you just then add your creatine, replace lid, shake like hell, drink quickly. icon_smile.gif

If I don't mix it with a half glass of OJ, I usually stir it into one of those little individual apple sauce containers. I usually get the "no sugar added" kind.

Ah icon_smile.gif i use monohydrate creatine, i got a big tub of it at GNC, along with whey protein (mmmm banana is yum) least im on target with when to take it. The half glass of oj is prolly a good solution to transporting it with some kind of sugar, and i gotta say, the apple sauce comment, dang, that seems to be the best idea cuz that seems to be the quickest and easiest way to get it in me, and then just drink a glass of water after icon_smile.gif sweet! the tips are awesome, now im really glad i joined this site icon_smile.gif

Actually YOU SHOULD NEVER use anything acidic as a creatine shuttle. The acid will prevent creatine from being loaded effectively into your muscles!!!

I can't believe I am not able to break down the chemistry behind it and I am pre-med...getting ready to apply to med school in the summer (wish me luck)

phosphagen elite from EAS comes with sugar in the mix. It mixes in a bottle of water and I drink it throughout my workout.

I know it absorbs well because I just had my latest physical and my doctor noted that my creatine levels were high...I told him I supplement with it and he said "well, it's working."

It comes in a few flavors and is kind of expensive, but I like the fruit punch (let the gay jokes fly).

You know you can get some kinds in pills to. I used to like the fizzy kinds that dissolve themselves in water.
