Has anyone trained in a flume or a swim spa? What is it like? I live kind of out in the boonies and no longer have a place to swim laps. I've sort of been thinking of trying to build one, but not sure if it's worthwhile. They seem kind of straightforward to build and should be feasible to heat all winter. The prices of the commercial ones are absurd, though.

My pool has a bungee hook in so I can just swim in place for as long as I want. Cheaper than building something to move the water and (I think) just as effective.

I used a endless pool on a Princess Cruise ship..It was cool, but not strong enougth for me. A slow free style I kept moving forward almost hitting wall, If I swam any slower, I almost sank. Same with back stroke with just my legs, same way.
