OK so like I said in my last post last Friday was my first time at a gay club. And now that I think of it the music did really suck. So this sudden revelation cued me to post this thread.

I want you guys to please please PLEASE post your fav dance songs or dance songs you think/thought are/were really good. Cause I really want to hear good dance songs, like “Alors On Danse”, “Sandstorm”, “Where You Wanna Go”, and “Stereo Love.” I know you guys are going to be hypercritical about how I am describing this genre. But what I mean by dance songs, are songs that just make you move. That when you hear them you just HAVE TOO move. icon_smile.gif

And please no Gaga, Brit-Brit, Katy Perry, Kesha, Rihanna songs. Nothing mainstream anyone knows. I love Gaga but I have overplayed every song she has ever created lol.

Thank you. Here are some that I have been dancing too lately, like a maniac lol. icon_smile.gif And as some of you will notice, two of them are by Wynter Gordon. She is UH-MAIZ-ING! Talented and beautiful, she writes all her songs and has a good voice for dance songs, don’t you agree?

    Dive In The Pool

    Wynter Gordon - Dirty Talk

Freemasons ft. Wynter Gordon - Believer

Mischa Daniels ft. J-Son - Where You Wanna Go [Extended Remix]

    P.S.
Hey guys use the old the YouTube embed codes. The new ones utilize adobe flashplayer and a lot more virtual memory and that makes everyone's computer runs slower if you have like 20 vids on one page. Just letting you guys know cause its getting harder to navigate through the page the more vids there are. But anyways THANKS for all the songs they are amazing. Some of these i have heard of but never knew the names. Thank you! icon_smile.gif

Is that music current? Seems I was dancing to that over 10 years ago (when I still could dance).

What I used to do was listen to online club music over my computer (for many years I've always gotten a good sound system with a subwoofer for the different computers I've had), and practice on my own before going out to the club.

Oh, and a tip: many guys wear athletic shoes to the club, joggers or whatever, as I usually do, with rubber soles designed for maximum traction. Needless to say, when they try to dance they look like they're nailed to the floor.

So I bought myself some black duct tape, and yes, I'd tape my soles before I went out. Nobody could see it, and they'd wonder how I'd manage to do all these Michael Jackson-like slides all over the floor, and especially at my age.

Of course another secret, known to all professional dancers, is to mostly put your weight on only one foot at a time, the other one free to glide. You glide the unburdened foot, then shift your weight to the other foot, glide, shift, glide, etc. It appears like you're floating on air, when you want to create that effect.

But an awful lot of guys stay rooted in place flat-footed, looking like they're stomping grapes. Some great & supple hip movements in many cases, that I can no longer do myself, but I compensate with footwork that makes the others seem like they're wearing lead weights in comparison.

Just some thoughts as you continue to explore the gay club scene. For which I envy you a great deal, and not in a bad way. [SIGH] What many of us wouldn't do to be in your young (dancing) shoes again. icon_biggrin.gif

If I am getting in the pool, I need my cha cha heels. (these songs remind me of the gay clubs of yesteryear and people going crazy).

I don't know if it's dance music, strictly speaking, but it sure makes me want to move: Ultraviolet, by Way Out West.

Dive in the Pool still makes me laugh under my breath because they played that song to death in the MidWest. It was like you couldn't get away from that song for over a year. Then, after it seemed like we were safe from that song, Paper Mashay came to town a few years later to sing it live for us. UGH!

Plasmic Honey had a song titled Gotta Have Love that made me shake my groove thing back in the day. I couldn't find it on youtube. icon_sad.gif

Your comment reminded me of my younger days in Atlanta. The best gay bars back in the late 70's was Backstreet, The Locker Room Disco and (real name too here guys) The Sweet Gum Head.

I even had the huge platform heel type shoes (like Elton John's back in the day) and wore silk Nik Nik shirts (hope someone here remembers those) along with puka beads.

Recently, I have managed to find many of the great disco music I enjoyed either on Grooveshark, You Tube or other sources. How nice it is to play this one....

Just because you're not young doesn't mean you can't go out and have a night on the town. icon_smile.gif My mom is well beyond her um... better years (you are not supposed to divulge a woman's age, as it is very rude icon_smile.gif) and she still goes out to concerts and dances.

Just tap into your inner youth. We all have it. Lol icon_smile.gif
