Why is Fox News broadcasting Glenn Beck's mental collapse?

This is from tonight's Hardball. I admittedly don't watch much Glenn Beck but since Egypt erupted he's gone completely off the rails:

For those who watch/support Beck, can you explain to the rest of us why you watch this increasingly delusional man?

As much as these MSNBC fools try to discredit Beck, they end up strengthening him by their demonstration of their own vacuousness. They are not able to muster any serious challenge. Maybe Matthews is preoccupied with that tingle up his leg.

I don't watch Beck because he just annoys me. That said, what I find equally annoying are pundits like Chris Matthews, and others, who paint Glen Beck as a crazy or delusional. He's just a man with a TV show and an extremely large viewership (the size of which Chris Matthews could only dream of having) and an opinion....nothing more, nothing less.

Really, Socal? While we don't agree on much, you're a smart, well-traveled guy. Can you even figure out what the hell Beck is saying? Nothing in his rant makes a lick of sense historically, geographically, militarily.

Glenn Beck is amusing but largely incomprehensible to me. He has I believe some mental illness or is a very good actor.

That being said, Chris Mathews is the last to talk. He is his own side show act with talking about getting " tingly feelings" about the president.

He is a big bore too. And a dumb one at that. Hes telling his listeners to tune into FOX.
He has the same people on, retreads from Newsweek ( the magazine nobody reads).

Becks and FOX's biggest audience are liberals throwing pillows at the TV. A sort of love to hate scenario.

If MSNBC just simulcasted FOX and did a commentary they would do alot better than they are currently.

What a bunch of dummies at MSNBC, its no wonder they are doing horribly.

Chris Matthews also likes to mislead his listeners whenever talking condescendingly about someone like Glenn Beck who trounces him in the ratings, by painting Glenn Beck as someone who speaks for the Republican Party --- which, of course, Glenn Beck does not.

    No, that's Rush Limbaugh's job.

Chris Matthews said one thing about a tingle in his leg and you have been harping no it for months. Glenn Beck practically plays wit his own poo on television and you give him a walk.

Beck has also lost 30% of his television audience since December. Sure, he beats MSNBC in the ratings but Fox us also included in all basic cable packages and MSNBC is only included in premium packages in many markets.

"sad to see" - and he may be identified by some with our politics - that's their problem, not ours.

Wrong again, Christian. Rush Limbaugh is also just one man with a fiercely popular radio show who expresses an opinion. He does NOT speak for the Republican Party. As for Glenn Beck being "The Man Who Is Most Identified with our politics" --- that would be a liberal opinion, not necessarily a conservative one. I only hear liberals putting Beck on that pedestal, NOT Republicans. Lastly, since when do any of us have to "mount a serious defense" of Glenn Beck? I don't even watch his show.

The reason is, MSNBC has to charge the providers. Because its failing miserably.

    Its been around before FOX.

Chris Mathews is a political hack from the old cigar smoking democrat Congressional caucus of the 70's and 80's.

Hes a bore, that can barely conduct a interview.

If you equate Conservative ideals with TV or Radio personalities there is more you have to learn about those ideals.

I'm not equating TV personalities with conservative ideals. I don't have to the right wing does it all by themselves. Limbaugh speaks at CPAC. Hannity is invited to political strategy meetings with the Koch brothers. Sarah Palin is a paid Fox contributor. The conservatives put the TV/Radio chocolate in their political peanut butter.

There is 6 minutes of my life I won't get back. 6... because I am not going to waste any more time watching it.

If you want to attack Beck, post Beck. What was posted was a group orgy laughing at 30 seconds of crap pulled from Becks show. I don't watch Beck, and I can see no reason to watch a group of guys say nothing of substance after picking 20 or 30 seconds of his hour long show to demonstrate what they want.

Post a longer clip of Beck without the commentary and I will happily post a better (more anti-Beck) review of him. More than likely he is lacking brain cells or the ability to think, but I would sooner review what he said than what (whoever was in the clip) had to say.

Which brings up an interesting point. If nothing else, Beck has novelty and recognition. Even I can pick out a picture of him... I don't even know who the host of the show posted is. This bodes well for Glenn's bank account...

    Is he going crazy ?
or is this just an orchestrated race to the right wing looney bin ?

Here's a very well thought out take on all things Bat Shit .................

Glenn Beck and the Economics of Crazy Talk Radio
Feb 3 2011, 11:40 AM ET By Derek Thompson
    The Atlantic
Glenn Beck's increasingly dadaist take on the Egypt revolts prompted David Frum to reach back into the archives to pull this piece on the incentives that drive crazy right-wing talk radio. In a nutshell: The impression that conservative radio thrives in operatic indignation has set off a race to see who can stake out the position of most operatic and most indignant in a crowded field:

Conservative talk radio has never been more angry and extreme than today. You might think that's a response to the Obama presidency. But even more, conservative talkers are responding to a collapse in advertising revenues.

According to Scott Fybush, the proprietor of North East Radio Watch, talk radio has lost 30-40% of its ad revenues over the past two years.

I don't like Beck. He is so sensational that often times he appears wacky -- almost like a fundamentalist preacher talking about politics. He's 10x worse on the radio!

Drudgereport and Breitbart material are fine for me!

And socal as well as others here calls MSNBC far left !!!! Now get that !!! Chris Matthews is far left for pointing out how ridiculous Beck is for putting this bullshit out there.

Take note, that Beck from his own words is a recovering substance abuser, he has these delusions from his own descriptions of his being called to preach/warn the public about THE VAST CONSPIRACY to take over our country.

Guys !!! Beck is delusional at his best, with some kind of a superiority complex psychosis, down the order of JIM JONES who led approx. 800 people to poison themselves. People who dismiss his antics as just entertainment miss his own seriousness about what he's saying, he believes this shit, and sadly has a following who buys his shit hook line and sinker. This guy is dangerous !!! Mark it down, and I believe it, that this Beck is headed for some mental breakdown and his followers are going to be mighty disappointed when it happens, that they actually were duped by this ever increasingly deranged nut case.

And to think that we actually have republican politicians in high government offices that adhere to his bullshit, and will not dare to confront him, or Limbaugh as well as Palin his frequent sidekick, for fear of losing their followers, Particularly the TBAGGERS. This guy Beck and Fox news is an embarrassment to our intelligence and our country.

Look for all this crap he's building up to, to come crashing in on him all at once and for his breakdown to be a very public and a complete exposure of just how crazy he really is. Won't Fox news look like fools then, for having kept him on the payroll for so long, having ignored the very obvious signs of his being delusional.

I doubt his listeners will feel any disappointment, other than that they'll have to find a new nutjob to follow. You can't believe his lunacy without being a lunatic yourself.

And so therefore his pending meltdown, which I begin to think is imminent, will change few minds in his audience. They're already deranged in their own right, Beck merely being their cheerleader. If Beck ends up in a straightjacket, where he seems headed, Rupert Murdock will just bring out a new crazy right-winger, that Republicans & Teabaggers will flock around just as eagerly. Birds of a feather...

Well to large degree, your probably right there will be a lot of 'followers' who will stick by him regardless of how far down he and his bullshit falls down. But his kind of crazy grew from small beginnings, he didn't go anywhere near as far out on his limbs at first as he does now. One crazy theory grew into another, and each built on the previous one, and I doubt sincerely that this was all in his head to say starting two years ago.

True idiots get to believing their stories, building them ever bigger and bigger, building to a peak where they fall, and fall hard, His is coming, don't know when, but just like Jim Jones and other such charismatic liars their time comes and it all crumbles in on them in fast succession once things start unraveling . Whoever they get to replace him will doubtfully start out this crazed. I would think clear thinking republicans would try to fade him out quietly, but get it done through influencing Fox, ownership and the board. We will be so much better off without this kind of idiocy being preached for truth, once his end comes. I hope it soon happens !!!!
