Push ups every day? or every other day?

    I'm just starting at the Gym doing weight training to bulk up. Previous only attended for general fitness and well being nothing serious just cardio basically.
    I'm now on a 1 day on 1 day off strength training program but I SUCK at push ups and pull ups. For example where I should be doing 3 sets of 20+ i can only do 1 set of 10, then 8 and 6. Yes I suck.
    So how can I get better at this?
    Is there a problem with doing push ups daily to target this or is this someway not a good idea. Any tips in how I can increase the amount of reps I can do?
