God forbid, she sold out. FOR SHAME.....is that the kind of response you expected? I love the reactions right-wingers have to successful people on the left.

The point is, there are so few independent news sources and we just lost another one.

I'd hardly call the Huffington Post independent media. It was a blog. There are lots of them. Find another.

The point of the post is Ms. Huffington's relentless efforts to tell people that corporate interests are evil, however, she just joined forces with the same evil she discounted so much, who cares? Everyone should.

Seems like a brilliant move, actually. It's a good complimentary fit for both.

When I read the news on HuffingtonPost I was taken aback. So long as the news items continue to look same, I won't mind.

heybreaux saidTo all the loyal followers of Ms. Huffington. I have said before that I didn't trust her work and that her background was shaky at best, what a flake.

To all who thought she was a crusader for news that was not owned or influenced by corporate interests...

Behold, she is doing exactly what mega cap multinational companies are --becoming larger and more powerful. Arianna the corporate whore arrives...

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/huffington-post-aol_b_819373.html

I don't know who ever called her a crusader, but I never saw her as such. I think of her more as a commentator.

HuffPo grew branded as a liberal-leaning blog collective. Arianna says they need to change that to gain global legs. It will be interesting to see if the image really can change. Arianna will still have Editor In Chief control over content, so she'll be the face if it doesn't work out.

I don't think AOL has a political agenda like, say, NewsCorp that dictates the path for Fox News. If they can evolve the way she is planning, they could be a relevant centrist force.

    Let's see......

In five years she took a website and turned it into 315 million dollars
and now she's going to be chief editor for the entire AOL conglomerate

pretty damn smart if you ask me

    Right. I agree with you.

Which is why I'm even more puzzled by your personal attack on me above.

I respect your views, but they are not fair and balanced as far as I can see, they are to the far right, and that is OK with me. Your ideas and posts provoke thought and are just as valid as any, it wasn't a personal attack, it was my opinion. You are not fair and balanced, but, quite frankly, fair and balanced oft times accomplishes nothing.

Not all corporate interests are evil because not all corporations are evil.

    What's Ambrose Bierce's Devil's definition?

Corporation: An ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility.

It's when corporations lack the responsibility to those others than their shareholders, those who may have a stake or an interest in the same topic just on a scale different than monetary...

I don't want center. I want left! Center is that boring presentation you get with reporters and news anchors who tread carefully and refuse to assert a hard position. I don't want soft news, I want it hard-hitting.

She sold to AOL at the top just like AOL sold at the top to Time-Warner.

If you want left as you say, you've still got MSNBC.
Centrist doesn't mean boring or neutral. It means the middle of both sides, without the crazy extremes.
