While I wholly agree with the sentiment, I can't understand why legislators waste taxpayer money passing NON BINDING resolutions.

Because Bush and Cheney wasted our sons and daughters lives on NEOCON goals we didn't share, and because these two cost the lives of around a hundred thousand Iraque's, caused the displacement of at least a million people. Brought hate and shame to our nation, and worsened the Terrorist threat by their endorsing torture and etc.

Does it sound like a waste of time now ??

Metta8 --- please look up the very recent actions taken against Bush/Cheney by CCR (a legal entity) asking for the holding of Bush Cheney if they enter certain Country's of Europe who signed certain treaties against torture. BUSH RECENTLY CANCELED A TRIP TO SWITZERLAND OVER THE CCR FILING ACTION

I think it's important for democratic institutions to uphold their own principles even if - as in this case - it's largely symbolic. And I'm glad that Bush and Cheney have to worry about where they travel for fear of arrest. Given all the blood on their hands, it's at least a karmic kind of retribution.

If you were a mere farmer, traveling the boarder between Pakistan and Afghanistan at the wrong time and some opportunist turned you in to the authorities for the $5000 reward, then you were taken to Guantanamo Bay for 7 years, no reason, no recourse, no justification, no hope of release, no rights. WOULD YOU THEN THINK IT WAS A WASTE OF TIME TO QUESTION BUSH/CHENEY FOR THEIR ACTIONS ???

Blame the congress, they voted to invade Iraq. Should we arrest all of them? Good luck with that. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes. They voted after a cavalcade of Bush administration officials got up and lied under oath claiming the Iraq had WMDs and, as Condoleeza Rice said, that we didn't want "want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud..."

I hope this sentiment catches on nationwide, and becomes binding.

    In a word --- YES!
As for these obscure little towns voting to arrest the former President & Vice President, the story is so insignificant that I haven't even seen it mentioned on any news stations or on the internet -- other than on RJ, of course. I'm sure Bush & Cheney are shaking in their boots LOL

Well, Cheney stopped traveling abroad before he fell ill and Bush just canceled a trip for reported fears of arrest. Maybe they're not shaking but they're certainly circumspect.

Two little towns with citizens who see the damage done, never underestimate what a small group of people can do, given time and the right issue. The US punished Japanese officers for doing what Bush/Cheney did. Several very active, strong and well known Legal Groups are working on these issues, and as noted above, Bush nor Cheney are welcome in the Country's of Europe who signed treaties/conventions against torture, you see they (under those documents) are obligated to turn in officials guilty of torture and other atrocities. Bush just changed plans because of the same type actions of these little towns. I guess the snowball is growing isn't it.

Thank you for answering my question, your honest about it.
