    This guy is beyond crazy.

Florida Republican Rep. Allen West said Tuesday that AOL's purchase of the Huffington Post is a threat to tea party groups' online presence.

West suggested that the business deal gives the left-leaning site more control over federal regulations of the Internet.

"You look out there, you see that AOL has purchased the Huffington Post. Now all of a sudden a very far left liberal blogger such as Arianna Huffington has a huge influence in the Internet world," he said.
"We cannot allow ourselves to be suppressed. We cannot allow them to take over the Internet," he said, as audience members nodded vigorously and started clapping.

Is Carter also worried about the AOL/HuffPost merger silencing the Tea Party? icon_rolleyes.gif

Well, lots of people said publicly West was a nut case during the election. But he won over the Teabaggers down here, the crabby old "Get off my lawn!" guys, of which we have so many in Florida.

To paraphrase one of my late mother's sayings: "It takes one to vote for one."

(Original: "It takes one to know one.")

    Carter was an awful President.

    Please elaborate.
By the way, I love how you quoted yourself.

That makes less sense than usual.

    Crippling interest rates.

A shambles of an economic policy.

    Rampant unemployment.

Carter sure had some big "accomplishments." icon_cry.gif

Again, you want something complicated to be simple. I'm a big fan of Carter as a human rights activist but his presidency was troubled. Still, there are some other things Carter did as president:

Deregulated the airline industry (which you should love!)

Spoke out against the Briggs Initiative in California

    Started energy conservation

Camp David Accords bringing a 30+-year peace agreement between Israel and Egypt

    SALT II

You haven't got Debbie, like I do? Gawd, the way they draw these Congressional districts, they should at least follow strict municipal & county lines. You got pulled into the Republican bastion of Palm Beach County. You should have stayed in Wilton Manors.

West appears to me to be little more than another Bachman, or Palin who will say anything for media attention. Worse still is how the republican party has been fauning over their token black to counter Obama, they tried it with the Indian Governor Bobby Jindal, but that fell flat, so lets see how long West goes before he embarrasses them but good and they put him on a shelf.
