Ok this is the first time i've ever written a forum and probably the last time ill ever make one. I dont even know if this is a valid argument or not but I just want to address a creepy trend going on here in RJ and in real life for that matter. I've noticed that men have actually stopped being gay. What's up with people putting in their profile saying "if you act girly or dance around listening to madonna, dont even bother messaging me"

WTF man! why is it a "turn off" when people are proud of who they are? I dont understand that kind of mentality where people get turned off from someone having the time of their lives. I myself dont act feminine but thats just me, I was raised with a manly upbringing. I love rock music like metallica and the sex pistols but that doesnt mean im not going to get my groove on when a britney song comes on.

I've had relationships with guys who listen to madonna and guys who can actually hit it on the dancefloor. Dare I say I've probably had more fun with those guys than the "im straight and play football 24/7 gay guys".

I know everyone has this fantasy of having a straight acting boyfriend but honestly I would rather be with someone who is comfortable with who they are than someone who is so uptight about their sexuality.

For the record, girly guys are also a hoot to hang out with, they're amazing people. They're happy for who they are, why would you shut them down? why is everyone suddenly doing a complete 180 and stopped being gay?

You can still be gay and have a six pack abs you know.

Dont think I'm attacking anyone and I'm not going to throw in names. I just had to tell everyone about this because a chat buddy of mine here has been feeling the pressure to be less gay in order to get the man of their dreams. Its actually overrated if you ask me.

So go ahead, get that turn table out and put on your favorite Rod Stewart album you hid under your bed, dance like a maniac, make puns like the true gay man you are, read Oscar Wilde!

People need to know that acting “straight” does not define masculinity. Theres nothing wrong with owning a pair of leotards. Everyone is beautiful so lets learn to love each and every gay men, feminine or non feminine. As corny as that may sound.

    rant over.

I think the men on this site are still engaging in anal intercourse with other men and/or fellatio. So don't sweat it, the gay quotient is still going strong.

Talk about broad strokes.... Last I checked gay men come in all types and range an entire scale by definition of fem to masc. This site is targeting athletic men. What did you think you would find here? guys skipping in a prairie field of dandelions?

Be gay by your own definition.
If you wanna be a queen step out in heals and rock a leotard by all means do your thang. If you wanna be a jock tote a football, rock a jock strap and pounce on a guy on the field...do your thang but neither is better than than the other.

    Preach on, brother!

There are a lot of self-loathing gay men out there.
Straight-acting means that even though the guy likes dick, he adopts certain mannerisms to make himself feel like he's not less of a man.

If your self-worth comes from fitting into some sort of heteronormative stereotype, please do some soul searching.
If there's something you enjoy doing, then do it. If you're doing it to appear 'normal,' then grow up.

I love it when a straight acting gay guy brags on being a top and how masculine he is, but what he doesn't tell you that in the bedroom he is the one who screams, moans, moves, and loves to take up the ass just as, if not more then any gay man, straight acting or not does!!

Hahah I must admit, I like taking gay pictures but never do I act feminine. I think overall super girly gay guy annoy people, just like super girly gurls get frustrating and over rated masculine men get obnoxious. Sometime too much of something annoys people. But its true different people like different tastes. No one here really likes girly men, because it's a gay "jock" website, where being masculine and athletic is given priority over the stereotypical gay guy.

But hollar sista... wave ur rainbow flag and act how you please!!!!!!!

Nope didn't mean it that way, but as you know, RJ members, at least the profiles that I have come across always say they want masculine athletic men. Of course anyone can be athletic, gay guys in fact are more athletic than regular straight men, why? because we like taking care of our bodies. I just meant to say that that trend is popular on this website; the more athletic and masuline you appear the more hits you'll probably get.

I believe that many guys aren't trying to act in any certain way. The more masculine types really are just that; they're more manly by nature. It's really not like they're trying to behave in any certain way. Maybe they really do enjoy playing football and drinking beer and just hanging out with the guys, seeing their muscles grow large when they go lift weights at the gym.

It's important to make the distinction between sexual orientation and gender identity. They really are two different things. Yes, we're gay guys and not straight, but looking at a GI Joe Duke action figure with the oversized, unrealistic musculature is going to reinforce the ideal in young boys of what guys seem like, regardless of future orientation. They're too young to think critically at that point. It's not the idea of "this is a standard I should be achieving to impress people", but rather, it's the "little brother" phenomenon of simply imitating the "older brother". He shoots guns, so I'll shoot guns too. He's got big muscles, so I'll have big muscles too. (He's likely not actively thinking about the muscle one, but it manifests itself subconsciously.)

Lets not forget that all men (people for that matter), choose how they wish to act. This isn't something that only gay men do. While there are certain traits and mannerisms that lean men more towards the classic views of feminine or masculine, there comes a point where we all choose how much we embrace those traits.

While traits such as deepness of voice, and overall bone/face structure are things we don't choose, how much we skip, twirl, and giggle, are. I like to think that we can all accept each other for who we are, but at the end of the day, if your mannerisms are attention seeking, irritating, and over-the-top, I'm not gonna like being around you, no matter if your straight, L, G, B or T!

I don't act one way or another, I am who I am, if I happen to be more masculine than some guys, so be it, I'm proud of who i am. I don't have to act feminine to be gay. I also get out on the dance floor and groove to the music when i feel it.

I also don't judge the guys who are more fem, I have dated a couple guys that where feminine, they were proud too. I really enjoyed being with them, they were fun and very loving guys.

As long as a guy true to who he is, and doesn't try to hide behind an act, I would date him if we're compatible and have chemistry, doesn't matter if they are masc or fem, as long as they are real.
