I was at the gym tonight sweating my lil heart out on the treadmill and as I perspired I wondered what everyone does with their sweat when they workout?

do you leave it and let it fall onto the machine? (no thats gross)
do you use your shirt to wipe it off?
    do you use a towel?

personally, I just use my shirt to dab at any sweat that drips down my face and when im down with cardio i usually go to the bathroom and wash my face...

I don't know, Im just curious as to what everyone does =)

It's pretty universally known and understood you should always carry a towel with you when you're at the gym. Two, actually, one to place on benches/machines and wipe them off and a separate one to wipe yourself with (but one is enough). Not carrying a towel to take care of your sweat is gross and inconsiderate.

yeah, I usually dont bring a towel but I always make sure to wipe the machine down when Im done which is why i think they have the cleaner n rags scattered around the gym.

I always use a towel, and also wipe down the machine with the disinfectant they have provided at the gym.

PLEASE WIPE DOWN YOUR EQUIPMENT WITH YOUR TOWEL, and spray with disinfectant when done. icon_exclaim.gif

Use a towel to wipe my face when am doing cardio of any sort. Later on wipe the machine and then go wash my face as well.

I sweat ALLOT.....always have and always will. I use a larger towel to dab myself and swap out for dry ones as I move along my routine. Also wipe down the equipment before and after use....cant be too careful with those nasty microbes and I've already caught 2 colds this season and not in the mood for another.

Use a towel as you sweat... but sweat is going get to get on the machine, it's not gross, it's just part of working out... just clean it up with the disinfectant when you're done.

I use a towel to wipe off the sweat from my face while on the treadmill. I also use one to wipe off the exercise equipment when I am done using it. I also take a small towel with me when I exercise outdoors.

I usually don't sweat. Lol. I have functioning sweat glands, yes, but it takes a long time of me working out really hard to start sweating. I'm actually pretty thankful for that. I hate being sweaty.

My gym provides paper towel dispensers and bottles of disinfectant spray. So for example I spray down and clean the treadmill both before and after I use it. I also use the paper towels to wipe myself as I run. However, when sprinting at the end sweat does tend to fling onto the machine...but I clean it off when finished with my cool down.

absolutely. I can't believe when I see guys totally sweat all over a machine and despite the paper towels and disinfectant that the gym has in multiple locations, they walk away leaving it for someone else. I actually wipe the machine down before I workout and use my towel for my face, etc. I tend to sweat a lot when I'm doing cardio.

How do other guys handle guys that don't clean up the machine? Do you comment or just get pissed. I never know what to say or if I should.

When I lived in Phoenix and worked out at 24 hour fitness, I had a guy who sweat a lot and I was right behind him and seemed to use the machines and benches that he used. He did not clean up the sweat, so one day, I took an extra towel with me and when he got off a machine, I went over and handed it to him and said "here is a towel to wipe your sweat off the machines and benches". He thanked me and brought the towel with him from then on. Normally I probably wouldn't have done that, but he was quite hot and turned out to be friendly too.

About the most massively useful thing that you can have is a towel.
Always know where your towel is.

The strags may not know what you mean.

I dry the machine then go & get a mop for the lake on the floor.
