China's 'Go-To' Typical American Guy
"Usually the Americans are stereotyped as the good guy," he says. "I can't think of an evil character that I've played who was American," he says. "For the most part, the evil characters are French and English, and the dumb characters are German."

He says he believes these stereotypes are rooted in China's recent history.

"There's a lot of stuff done about World War II where Americans worked with China, and there's a lot of stuff done during the Qing dynasty, when America was not a major China enemy like England or France."
That surprises me with the UK's relationship with Hong Kong...but then again...that may be the reason why.

    It's the accent.
Aussies are probably midway between the stereotypes for Americans and Germans. icon_lol.gif

China had to give HK to the British after the Opium Wars. I don't think it left them with a warm fuzzy feeling.
