After a while of reading the RJ forums, I decided to finally sign-up!
The purpose of this post is to generate views to my fundraising venture.
I am hoping to study abroad in the Spring of 2012 in Austria. I know this experience will help me better myself as an individual who wants to see the world.

Some information about myself is posted on my profile, and the rest on the actual site.

I hope you don't judge me as a gold digger!

Well have fun. I'm not donating, but I've been to Austria. Nice country- very beautiful.

    Thank you!
I was going to try Germany, but decided Austria because I'm a wimp and afraid of taking advanced-level science courses in German. (They teach in English apparently)

    Best,

Studying abroad can be a life-altering opportunity but is one that, unfortunately, very few Americans take advantage of when they are young. An immersion experience in a foreign country is about the only way to achieve a high degree of proficiency in a foreign language, so go for it.

May I suggest that before you hit people up for donations, you explore more mainstream options? NAFSA, the Association of International Educators, has a clearinghouse page with information on how to use Federal higher education loans for study abroad.

    http://www.nafsa.org/students.sec/financial_aid_for_study/#fund

There are also a ton of scholarship options listed on IIE, the Institute for International Education's website. Here is the list for Austria:

    Good luck!
