Some friends and I just decided we're going to the beach for spring break in a month. I'm about 6'1 205lbs right now and I haven't worked out a bit since I completed a half marathon in the beginning of November.

So what's the best way to shape up in 1 months time? My school has a great rec center so all machine's are available to me, I just don't know how to use most of them. I lifted a bit in high school, but that was several years ago. I'll go for a plan to either bulk up or slim down. Diet wise, i'm a vegetarian and eat more pasta dishes than I should, but I try to eat a lot of fruit too.

I'm ready to commit. I have 1 month and need a big transformation (or as big of one that is still healthy). I just don't know where to start and how to do it in a healthy way.

    Thanks!

cut out the carbs! comepletely! stick to roast veg, as you're veggie, or even steamed... and as far as getting into shape, cardiovascularly a pretty good workout is 20 minutes jump rope, and then whatever weights you want to do... but im no expert icon_smile.gif

This. Real, lasting changes in your body take a lot longer than a month to bring about.

    Get the flu.
I've been extremely sick for the past 4 days and have only eaten one regular meal. I'm totally ripped now. icon_lol.gif

Try paleo. I've heard it has the fastest results, but like everybody else said, you should have started months ago.

Kudos to you for wanting to shape up.... thumbs down for the month requirement! First and foremost, I think it is a mistake for you to set as your goal.. to be in shape in a month. Fitness is a lifestyle, not a quickie to look your best.

Some of what has been said above is good, but I suggest you focus on longer term goals.. and if you have some positive effects in a month, thats great, but I'd be looking at health (dietary and exercise requirements) for a lot longer than what you've said.

hmmmm, i dont think you can do much in a month at either slimming down or bulking up. you said you did a half marathon so you must be in reasonable shape. you have to make up your mind if you want to be bulk up or stay slim and stick to a plan. if you start now you should see results by the summer months. unless you are a wrestler and can cut 15lbs

You could lose a few lbs by cutting out all carbs, but thats it. You wont see any real results in 30 days. 30 days isnt much time to do anything.

One month. You can look a little better. But being fit is a lifetime commitment, as some others have already said.

What is your goal? To just get skinnier or build muscle or what? If you want to build muscle you won't be able to gain more than a couple pounds of it by then. If you want to get skinnier and maintain muscle then you should only lose about a lb or two a week max so you won't see a crazy change that way. If you just want to get skinner, you can. You can shed of some lbs quick with a bunch of cardio and a very strict diet, but you will shed off muscle on top of fat and it isn't exactly the healthiest thing to do.

I used to go on a spring break crash diet starting in late january and lose about 10lbs or more by march and I never realized what I was doing. I was burning off muscle at the same time, and I would ALWAYS gain the weight back after spring break, just in time for summer. But know I have learned...
