spa & sauna etiquette

Got a question on spa/sauna etiquette:

I was recently at a conference at an awesome resort, complete with the gym/spa experience. After a workout and sports massage, I was relaxing in the whirlpool and got up to use the dry sauna. (I don't have a problem being naked since it's sort of what these places are for -- to relax -- so I walked around freely nude.)

Anyway, I was naked, lying down in the sauna, when another guy walked in. We started making small talk, being friendly. Then he started to get hard and was fingering his cock. It was hard not to notice. I wasn't turned on at all (I didn't think he was attractive), but he clearly wanted to have some fun. I didn't care about that, since we all get horny, but when is that sort of thing appropriate (if ever)?

Since I don't go to these places a lot, is relaxing naked in a "gentleman's" area at one of these spas/resorts an invitation for sex? I like to be naked in these places, but sex does not always have to result from nudity.

Well, how about those darkened sauna/steam room where guy pretty much have sex in it. We have one here where I live. Inside this room you are expected to be touch . Really there no need for etiquette here...anything goes. Some guy will perform oral on you and bottom for you. The things is you not even know who you are doing its with. I have been to this places and ....well, get some guy (I have not idea who he it) perform oral on me. However that about as far as I go. There no way I am gonna give oral or anything heavier in such places. Not worth the risk.

    Hey achilles06,

You did nothing wrong by going into the dry sauna in the nude.

I think it was inappropriate for that guy to do what he did. If resort staff would have seen what happened, he and possibly you would have been in some trouble.

That being said, I think what you experienced happens a lot.

Did you end up just walking out? What did you do?

I did leave eventually -- when I got up to leave, he told me that I should "stay and relax"..... sort of nasty.

Honestly, it didn't bother me that he was getting aroused, but it did bother me that he was trying to involve me in it.

I've been wondering though if my response would have been different if he was a cut/ripped bodybuilder rather than an out-of-shape dude.

    Just my 2 cents worth.........

but when did it ever become okay to be "sexual" in a public sauna/spa?

If it were a bath house that'd be one thing........

you would have gotten a hard on and probably followed through dude. were male. a breeze could arouse us.. let alone being in a dark... hot... sauna with a hot guy. it happens. sketchy stuff takes place whether or not you participate is up to you... you could have easily just walked out and returned later. im sure he would have gotten the hint had you said DUDE IM NOT INTERESTED.

Only you can answer that. It would be easy to get caught up in the moment. I just think it's dangerous to do anything in such a public place.

I believe that you have already answered your own question with your hypothesis about a ripped muscular guy.

This happened to me quite a few times and I am turned on, but have always resisted the temptation.

Is it appropriate for you to be naked? YES! It is a freaking sauna.

Is it appropriate for the guy to play with himself? Most likely NO because the placed you described is NOT a bath house.

Either way, I would take it as a compliment to you!

This is exactly the reason I dont set foot in such places. If I want to go to a sauna REAL bad, I will buy myself one.

And no, I am not prude enough to claim that if a hot bodybuilder walked in and did the same things your guy descibed, I would not be turned on. I would be turned on, a LOT. That's why I say what I say. Better safe than sorry. Heh.

Also I agree with freaky, when did it become so acceptable to do all these indecent things in public spaces. It's not like the race is running low on private spaces people. Got turned on? No problem, go get a room. :-)
