So I thought it would be a great idea to get myself a BB Curve 8520 for xmas.
    Ya, I know right?
But no, its been 2 months, and the optical trackpad freezing has become a daily routine. Fine, I put up with it.
But today, it froze for good. icon_sad.gif
After several hours of online searching and some emergency Blackberry surgery, still no luck! And i'm a pretty damn fine surgeon-to-be!

I hate Blackberry! I'm getting an iPhone the next time icon_sad.gif

Being that new isn't it still under some kind of warranty? At least the basic factory, even without an extended plan? Return it to where you bought it.

    are you with Rogers?
I got my Bold replaced 2 months ago , the trackball was not working.
got a new one, with the updated s/w, and they also credited 2 weeks on my bill.

i like my Bold, schedule, calls, e-mails etc. : all those apps work in symbiosis.
so for work it's a good tool .
i don't have an iPhone so i can't compare, but my next phone will prob. be android or win7.

You, my sir, got a cheap Blackberry. When you decide to buy an outdated version of a phone, of course it won't be perfect. There has been more than one version of the Curve alone since the 8520.

They since replaced the trackball with the touchpad for these reasons. I got the Blackberry Torch for Christmas and it is the best phone I have ever had. I love touch screens but get annoyed typing on them when I am on the go, so the Torch is the best of both worlds since it is a touch screen, but a keyboard slides out.

Any make/ model of phone can have a glitch. It's just bad luck that you ended up with one that gives trackpad problems. Maybe get a different model. There are much nicer ones out now that have better user interfaces and are better built. I could never part with my bb....I'd probably lay down and die.

Damn right!, i bought a Blackberry Bold 9700 last year an i've never had a complain about it. If anything, he's thr one to complain about me since i've let him fall, and scratch and get wet.

Yea, whenever is time to change, i'll go for an iphone.

I currently have the Storm 2 and am not please with it. I loved my BB Pearl though and when I went back to a Verizon store to buy a newer version I found out Verizon discontinued use of the model. icon_evil.gif And they don't have the Torch yet. icon_evil.gificon_evil.gif Come on Verizon!
