Philippines Anti-Discrimination Act of 2010 (House Bill 1483)

Among the many good features of House Bill 1483 include:

    > ensuring LGBTs get hired without discrimination in all jobs, services and industries with equitable pay, benefits and promotions
    > making schools a safe and accepting environment for students regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity
    > providing equal access for LGBTs to enjoy health care, housing, transportation and social services without prejudice
    > making discrimination against LGBTs an act that can be reported to the government authorities and penalized so that discrimination can be eliminated

(it is a current bill being worked on. There is an error on the date of the most current post on the blog.)

As a Filipino myself, I'm proud that the country is moving forward. It's never easy to get any bill passed in the Philippines, but this is a start. As Catholic and seemingly conservative as the country may be, when I came out, not one single person out of the 20 or more people I told had a problem with it. Things are looking good icon_smile.gif

gays were known in our pre-history as community newsbringers. they are not much squawked at as much as the west does their counterparts (well, just how i see it). i love the way we have created our own Gay-language; i wonder if other countries have similar.
