I know hardly anything about NASCAR except...well...cars go around in an oval, but today's Daytona 500 winner is a total hottie. TrevorBayne.jpg

No one knows anything about him. Totally out of the blue. Youngest Daytona winner at 20 years old. Not sure that exactly makes a good case for the validity of NASCAR when a 20 year old can school some veterans at Daytona but they have always been saying it's a team sport.

Saw him make an appearance on Ellen. He really is hot. And Ellen was her usual funny & outrageous self, presenting him with banners to advertise herself on his car. He seemed like a nice young man, who's family has actually been in auto racing for generations, if not as well known as some other dynasties.

Today's stock car racing is so highly specialized that it's lost most of its original purpose. It used to be a way for US passenger car manufacturers to demonstrate their superiority over each other, and as a way to develop advancements that found their way into the cars you actually found in a showroom.

Nowadays the race cars are just a parody of a passenger car, with phony bodies that even have the headlights painted on, different suspensions, extremely modified engines, special chassis frames, custom tires, and so on. Fans like to be able to cheer their favorite makes, but what's on the track bears virtually no relationship to what you can actually buy yourself.

I'm a recent convert to the sport, mostly because of my boyfriend and his family. We've got our favorites, but everybody's in love with the new guy, "T-Bayne."

There's definitely some eye candy on the track. I wish Vickers would do better so I could like him more =)

agree with AD's comments. NASCAR should be returned to the past, when stock cars had to be driven.

yes, trevor and kasey ARE cute guys! so was jeff gordon when he first started. racing. rumors about gordon's sexuality and the rainbow on the hood of his first NASCAR vehicle were quite the conversation piece.

Bayne is hot, but if you're going to root for someone in NASCAR, consider Evan Darling. He's the only openly gay driver out there.
