    Hello guys of RealJock,

I don't post often but figured this would be a good place to start. I am going to be visiting San Fransisco over July 4th weekend this year for a friend's wedding, and I would like some advice on where to stay and what to see that is local. I plan on spending about three days in the area.

I'm trying to do as much local stuff as possible and get the touristy stuff out of the way when I get there. I want to see the stuff that travel guides won't mention (dirty comments incoming).

If anyone would like to meet up with me and show me around, that would also be REALLY cool. Thanks!

If you search the forums you will find several other threads that answer most of your questions about what to do.
Three days isn't enough time to see everything, and for sure not when you include a wedding to attend as well.

For a hotel, try kayak to find your deal. Depending on where the wedding is, look for something around Union Square. There are plenty of hotels in the area, it's near the shopping, some sightseeing, and transportation.
I generally stay at one of the Kimpton hotels. They have the right price, right location, and right amenities for what I want.

Head to Pier 39 for the 4th of July. It will be crowded, but it's enjoyable. It's a good place to watch the San Francisco firework display. You can also see the shows from Oakland and Marin in the distance.
