This is absolutely ridiculous. Totally symptomatic of something fanatical fundamentalist christians would push for. If you're going to make a stance against abortion why not be consistent? This doesn't even make sense. Discrimination against females? Most abortions are done before the gender of the child is known.

I hope the democrats win on this one because it can't find consistency in its own goals.

I don't think this is as bad as it sounds. As I understand it, the bill actually protects from Abortions being conducted based on race or gender. Though, admittedly, I don't see why this is needed in the first place.

That's discrimination based on race and gender though. So it's okay to abort these babies because they are this color or this gender but not these because they are this color and this gender?

State intervention on Abortions is absolutely unjustifiable. This is just illustrative of the stupidity of the whole Abortion debate.

    America has far bigger problems.

This is so odd and seemingly random... I don't understand. And allowing the father of an aborted fetus to sue the doctor for civil damages?? You can't punish the doctor for the patients choice! This bill seems to go out of its way to pick a fight... weird!

I just read the article and it's without a doubt the weirdest bill I've ever read about. It's punishing the doctor, after the fact for performing an abortion with the mother's consent, based on the race and gender of the baby.

    As most Americans agree.
And yet the new Republican majority has been spending a lot of it's time pushing legislation focused on bringing up this divisive issue.

The Repubs promised all throughout campaign 2010 to focus on economic issues if they won control of Congress, and they've already broken that promise.

If some of you learn logic, rigor, etc, then I agree that there is!
