    Paul,

Did you see the overview of the Air France A330 systems failure and crash coming out of Rio? I did time in a 777 simulator here today under that scenario.

Super cooled water overran the pitot heaters. This caused the autopilot to drop off and auto-throttles to disengage. The pilots had used the settable bug to drop airspeed to 0.76 coming into a storm. Apparently they became distracted trying to figure out what was going on rather than pushing the turbines to 85% and cocking the nose up, saying to hell with any beating the airframe would take. (The same trim angle and turbine setting is used on the A330 and 777.)

Unfortunately they were on the low end of the coffin corner and that was all it took.

It’s a blast in the full scale simulator.

In their confusion trying to figure out the problem, they forgot Rule #1: Fly the airplane.

I wanna fly the sim in some shitty conditions. That would be much more fun than being in the real thing. icon_lol.gif
