Does anyone know a great place to watch a Space Shutlle Launch? Going in April and want to find a place that has a great view of the Shuttle. Looking for a place that NASA doesn't over crowd and charge $$$.

From what I heard, it just launched a few minutes ago.
I woulda watched it, but I was already too tired from working all day, so I came home instead.

Awesome watching the launch this evening, at work and we had a clear view from a longs ways away. Whats so odd is that I watched the 1st launch from my frontyard many many years ago, moved as far away from Florida as I possibly could and now I'm back for the very last launch, odd and strange world in the path we select. there are several parks in the area, but expect them to be full. Riverside Drive in Titusville is where my friends and I watched this last one - at the intersection of St. Johns St. and Riverside there's a nice little grassy area.
    Coordinates: 28.604142,-80.805819

If you do this, DO NOT park in that residential neighborhood - go out to the main drag (US1) and park somewhere out there and walk a few blocks. We parked at AutoZone:

    28.60032,-80.808123

Our friends parked in the neighborhood. We left at the same time but beat them back to I-95 by over an hour just because they were stuck in all the traffic coming out of that area and we hopped right onto US1 (along with all the traffic there, but still we were in much better position).

    Good luck!

Sorry to tell you, the very last Space Shuttle just launched. That is the end of the shuttle program. No more shuttles will be launched. Sorry buddy.

The problem with going to a launch, is that they hardly ever launch on the target date. It's kind of a gamble.

Especially the Spring and Summer launches, where Florida has it's worst and most unpredictable weather.

The one on 24 February was the final launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery. I misread it too. Easy mistake.

There was a Shuttle lauch the day before I flew into Patrick AFB at Cape Canaveral, many years ago. Talk about bad timing.

I was gonna do that, but I'd already flown to/from Daytona that day and was too tired to hop back in the plane for another trip. icon_lol.gif
