It's just the arrogant out-of-control Repubs who are refusing to get things done in a bipartisan manner.
RickRick (and the other liberals),
Please read this slowly and carefully:
There would be no possibility of a government shutdown in a few weeks if the Democrats-controlled Congress had passed a budget last year.
SB, Congressional legislation eminates from the HOUSE, which is controlled by the REPUBS.
If the Repubs choose to push through legislation in a harshly arrogant and partisan manner that forces a shutdown of the government - that IS THEIR CHOICE.
But, they surely will be sorry if they do.
The government shutdown that is fairly likely to happen in the next few weeks
is a result of the Federal government not currently operating under a budget for the current fiscal year.
The reason is that the LAST Congress - the one where the Democrats had huge majorities in the House and the Senate, didn't bother to pass a budget.
So please save your "it's the fault of the Republicans" chants until the Congress starts to work on NEXT YEAR's budget in the coming months.
