2008 (81st) "Jai Ho" — Slumdog Millionaire - It make me small every time I hear it.

2007 (80th) "Falling Slowly" — Once - My personal favorite of all Time.

2003 (76th) "Into the West" — The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - Just beautiful, and a great way to wrap up a lot of loose ends.

    2002 (75th) "Lose Yourself" — 8 Mile

    1961 (34th) "Moon River" — Breakfast at Tiffany's

1949 (22nd) "Baby, It's Cold Outside" — Neptune's Daughter - Actually a really Dirty song, that is considered a Christmas Carol? I'd like to here Snoop Dogg do an update with Lil' Kim!

And here is my favorite Nominated Songs that are a lot better than the songs that won, IMHO...

1988 (61st) "Calling You" — Bagdad Café Winner: "Let the River Run" — Working Girl

Some of my favourite Oscar songs were only ever nominated...and in a few cases, they weren't even nominated, though the music from the film was nominated.

"A Love Before Time" was a beautiful ballad from "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

"Learn to be Lonely" was especially beautiful when it was performed by Beyonce...from the last remake of "Phantom of the Opera."

I absolutely loved "Listen" from "Dreamgirls," and I especially loved the duet style with which it was performed by Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson.

"Reflection" was a beautiful song from the Disney flick "Mulan." To this day, I still think the pop version is almost a coming out song. "Reflection" was not nominated, but when "Mulan" was nominated for Best Original Score, the music that was played was the film version of "Reflection" which was sung by Lea Salonga.

"Colors of the Wind" was also a very beautiful song from the Disney film "Pocahontas," and I loved it as well. It won the Oscar for Original Song in 1995...I love the meaning of the words in the last couple of verses:
"You can own the earth and still, all you'll own is earth until..."

    I think you're getting a common theme here: I love ballads. ;)

"Glory of Love" from "The Karate Kid 2" was a song I loved when I was younger...it was nominated for Best Original Song, as was another beautiful song: "Somewhere Out There" from "An American Tail." Both of them lost to "Take My Breath Away" from "Top Gun" in 1987.

"Under the Sea" from "The Little Mermaid" won the Oscar in 1989...and it always makes me smile when I hear it. icon_smile.gif
