I read somewhere that eating beetroot and other very 'red' root vegetables an hour or so before your workout gives you lots of energy and is a natural alternative to all those NO (nitrate oxide) products.

fist of all im a total non bodybuilder so sorry for interferring into this thread
but i went to a collage that was specialized in nutition and dietic ...
i guess best for u as a diabetic would be to make a trink with little content of fructose and a high content of malto-dextrin because both of them are high in carbohydrates but both will keep ur blood-sugar on a constant level for a long time because they cant be split so easily...
and of what i learned training far more then an hour or so i thought would be contraproductive because ur body will start producing cortisol which is utterly katabolic....

Try a fat burning supplement like Lipo 6 or Redline. I've never been a huge fan of them because I don't think they actually assist in burning fat, but they definitely give you a surge of energy and decrease your appetite.

If you're going to go down the supplement route, I'd recommend Oxy Elite Pro before Lipo 6. Once I started using it I felt much stronger during my workouts (I did sweat a lot more, but that's another story). I lost a few lbs. on it, but I mostly felt more energy. Probably because of the caffeine in them. Also, you only have to take 3 pills a day, and when I tried Lipo 6 Black, I had to take 6! OEP all the way

My brother is diabetic and we both use the same drink. It's from PacificHealth Laboratories and was formulated by a an Olympic Committee sports medicine doctor. It does contain a small amount of sugar to deliver the protien, but he's never had any problems with it.
They have a lot of different products designed for different workouts. I order it online.

What makes you think you need to workout for 1.5 hours? I down 10g of BCAAs before my workout and make it through my 45 minute sessions just fine.
