Palm Trees in Wisconsin? FAUX-NEWS makes another one of their "errors" to make the Pro Union people look like hooligans.

Bill O'Liely is talking to the reporter about protesters being bused in to Wisconsin.....and the background clip you would think would be of Wisconsin.....but NO....FAUX-NEWS couldn't find any hooligans in all the Wisconsin protests so they find some clip of who the hell knows where to try and make the point that the protesters in Wisconsin are violent.

UM, PALM TREES in the background.

AND NO.................there was no CORRECTION DONE AT THE END OF THE SHOW

"A lot of people are bused in not just from Wisconsin but from a lot of surrounding states, I talked to someone who is from california..." Obviously the footage is from California [footage goes to a california protest]. Where's the lie? No one said the footage is from Madison.

Toilets are for defecating, forums are for discussing. Hopefully next time you won't confuse the two.

So funny! More FOX distortions. Yeah, I think that's southern California. It's been too warm in Florida since this Wisconsin thing began for anybody to be wearing jackets.

But I've spent some time in their state capitol of Madison, and I can promise you there's no palm trees there, nor people dressed so lightly at this time of year. The implication that this clip represents the attitude of the people in Wisconsin is utterly misleading, but typical FOX.

If FOX wants to show what protestors in Wisconsin are doing, let them show protestors in Wisconsin. And are people REALLY being bused all the way from southern California? Do you know how far that is? FOX just wants to discredit people from other parts of the US who support the union members in Wisconsin, and confuse their viewers about what's actually happening on the ground in Madison.

The protests in WI were way too civil to make for sensational news footage thus the clip shown on Fox.

The whole conversation is about unions, all you have to do is listen -- they are talking about people being bused in from different areas and it goes to footage from other union protests in california. The footage says "union protests" it doesn't say "union protest footage from wisconsin madison" as you would try to have everyone believe. Why are you trying to get blood out of a turnip?

Haha, the only one looking like a desperate fool here is you. You just said they are talking about OTHER STATES into wisconsin. So maybe they are showing the sentiments of other union protesters around the country (in this case california?) who are being bused into wisconsin?

The only way you would have a case here is if they indicated that the footage was from Madison either with wording or verbally, but you have nothing, zip, nada, zilch.

mocktwinkie saidSo maybe [my emphasis] they are showing the sentiments of other union protesters around the country (in this case california?) who are being bused into wisconsin?

So MAYBE? MAYBE??? And FOX News, being "fair & balanced," doesn't make this sufficiently clear what exactly they're showing on the TV screen?

And has anyone demonstrated that people from as far away as California are actually being bused (or flown, trained, trucked or FedEx'ed) to Wisconsin? Or is this more right-wing hysteria?

But is this any different, or worse, than when the right wing imported organizers & money against California Proposition 8, or into Maine, to defeat gay rights there? Is it only wrong when you import someone from out-of-state for a left-wing cause, but OK for a right-wing one? Even when it's anti-gay?

OK, we get the picture you're presenting. Just so we all know where you stand.

Do you KNOW that O'reilly noticed that there were palm trees and decided to intentionally not clarify that the footage wasn't from wisconsin? Could the reporter see the footage being played? You're taking a lot for granted here.

mocktwinkie saidYou're taking a lot for granted here.

And you even more. The name of the game is first & superficial impressions, which FOX exploits to the max.

Now when we're Monday-morning quarterbacking this piece we see all this. But what was the initial impression many viewers got at first glance? Union members being abusive & rowdy. That was FOX's intention, and what they achieved.

You can rationalize & apologize for them all you like, but it's the standard FOX MO (modus operandi). Throw it out there, and worry about the nitpickers later (or don't even worry). Their audience eats this stuff up, and never hears the critiques or the retractions. It's a good formula that works, if you're totally unscrupulous & unprincipled.

Ok, that clip is misleading. If you see a clip in a story you are going to assume it is a clip specific to that story. If it us some stick footage, it is incumbent on the broadcaster to explicitly say so.

Thus reminds me if the footage used for Glenn beck's rally to make it look bigger than it was.

Hannity admits he ‘screwed up’ by using old footage to increase the size of Bachmann’s tea party.

On Tuesday night, The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart called out Fox News’ Sean Hannity for using images from the 9/12 rally in Washington to make it seem as though Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-MN) “house call” rally attracted a larger crowd last Thursday.

In wake of misleading Palin footage, Fox News institutes ‘zero tolerance for on-screen errors.’

Last Thursday, Fox News issued an on-air apology after ThinkProgress reported that the network had recycled old file footage of Sarah Palin rallies to assert that she is currently getting huge turnouts on her book tour.

I noted this in another RJ thread. These so-called "honest errors" never favor Democrats, always Republicans. If they were truly random mistakes, surely SOME of them would be positive for Dems.

How very strange these FOX "mistakes" always work to benefit the Right wing, never the Left. You would think the law of probabilities, regarding pure errors... I don't suppose we can see an obvious pattern here?
