After seeing that I had been nominated for MOTD, I decided it MIGHT be time to address this a little stronger...and see if something can be done.
I was MOTD in August 2010 and November 2010. According to the current rules, you can only be nominated and "elected" MOTD every three months.
I don't have the number, but I KNOW there are lots of VERIFIED guys on RJ who have been around for a couple of years, who deserve this opportunity, but have never won.
I know that there a quite a number of guys who don't even participate in the MOTD thing...and that's fine. We all have choices to make...
BUT, at this time, I would like to address the matter to the Admin. to see if some new, improved ground rules could be written.
    1) A person should be a VERIFIED member for at least 90 days.
    2) Nominations can be unlimited, but restricted to once every six months or even ONE year. That sounded confusing, even to me... What I mean to say is that once a guy has actually WON MOTD, he should not be eligible for nomination for six months to a year.

    The floor is open....

This is interesting... whenever someone does any campaigning for a friend for MOTD, it usually creates quite a stir...sometimes negative.
But apparently no one has an opinion on how to improve the voting/election process... icon_rolleyes.gif

Give it time, they're all discussing the Ipad2.

I think it's a good idea, perhaps some different people will be nominated MoTD rather than the usual suspects.

Given the total number of members we have world-wide, we know there are more than 365 or even 366 members. Therefore, one honor per year should only be fair to give everyone an opportunity.

In the eight months I have been a member, I have seen some guys win the honor more than once. Those guys are on my buddy list too and they are very deserving, but you know what? I'll bet they would be the first ones to endorse and embrace this change, because they believe in fairness. They believe that RJ members of all ages should have an equal shot at the opportunity. After all, fairness and respect for others should be a factor in making them "Man Of The Day."

What turtleneckjock said is really a perfect world scenario. In the 4 years I have been a member, I have won once, probably due to my activity in the chat and the forums at that time.

I see your bid, Friendrbetter, and raise you:

How about the real jock admin release their choosing of Man of the Week and redo this:

Man of the day: After you win, you go to the next level-Man of the week. After you win, you go to the next level-Man of the Month. After you win, you go to the next and final level which Real Jock Admins then offer at the end of the year-Man of the Year, which means of the 12 men who won each month, 1 of them will be Man of the Year.

Sounds like a calendar or pageant I know. It has been accused of being a popularity contest. Sure it is. And it is also true we nominate for different reasons, pics, profile info, abs (lol). That will not change 'cause this is NOT a perfect, enlightened world or site. And there will be ones who will continue to not to participate and continue to see it as a popularity contest. Matters not, really.

Ok, 'nuff soap box. So, Friendsrbetter. Care to call now that I have raised you? icon_biggrin.gif

Does being man of the day really matter?

Ok, I'll bite. Too some, no. But to others (some who would never admit it), it does since they get an esteem boost out of it, even when RJ chooses them as Man of the week. Sure, other ways of boosting your esteem or having your ego stroked. This is just another way to do it, IMHO.
