I would beg to differ: we of the Tea Party are anything but authoritarian, and certainly not facistic. If any party treads close to that at all in American politics, that dubious honor would go to the Democrats.

Most Tea Party folks I know are quite libertarian in leaning, wanting to draw down the military and bring home everyone aside from leasing berthing rights at a few ports of call.

And streamling government as much as possible without adversely affecting critical services.

How crazy do you have to be to accuse a movement of wanting to reduce the influence of government and that promotes individual responsibility of being fascist?

What kind of world do you live in and does language matter to you?

Well why does the federal workforce not have collective bargaining or binding arbitration. Is that fascism?

You have the right to think that. But no where in the debate is anyone calling for imprisonment, deportation or any authoritarian rules against union members.

We can flip the whole world upside down and call it fascism. But then what would we call the thuggery and violence on the (D) democratic side? BLOODY comments by congressmen ( Rep Capuano), death threats by Wisconsin Democrat(s) in the legislative chamber..... so that doesnt equate with a DEADLY environment as you say?

FDR was not keen on public sector union collective bargaining. As discussed endlessly there is an inherent conflict in the Union negotiating not with its employers "the people" but political friends it helps to elect.

Seen as an example in 2006 where it was shown that prison system employees would call in sick to there scheduled shifts then rack up overtime pay for working the total scheduled hours. This is done to artificially stack up 3 years of top pay for a larger pension.

    http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/29511574.html

In the private sector this would not stand. And (most) citizens would find this morally reprehensible.

I think Unions are a good idea. But the garbage above is exhibit A in the argument against binding arbitration and collective bargaining with the government.

Who is anyone kidding when the city bus-driver makes more than the MAYOR?

If there is that much overtime hire someone else.....

Interesting manifesto. But outside of your shoe-horn approach to define a political philosophy ( tea party) with horrible dictators. There is no evidence of any violence on the part of the tea party.

This is your personal opinion. And its a hard point to prove considering what we have seen from the Union protestors a Democrats in the past week on this topic.

It must seem oppressive when political power leaves a collective group "progressive movement". But in a republic like ours we have seen happen many times. There are no "prison camps" or "gulags" for political enemies.

The left is going to have to convince the public who elected the current Governors and Representatives that a bus driver making 124,000 a year is a fair deal. And calling in sick to your own shift to make overtime appropriate... Tough task ahead.
