Well, yesterday was quite a day.
It started with my mother's husband waking up half dead. So we had to send him to the hospital by ambulance. They still don't know what's wrong with him, but at 92, what's right with him would probably be a shorter list.
Then took my mom to her scheduled hand surgery. Which went just fine.
Got an interesting lecture on how American dr's don't want to go into private practice anymore. My Mom's surgeon wants to retire but is finding it hard to find a replacement to take over his business. They just can't make enough money to run a business with Medicare reimbursements. He took a 50% cut in pay to keep his practice going. Now hecused to have 2 partners. So now he is carrying the whole business by himself. But my general dr complains that it is just not profitable anymore.
Then got home to find our house had been burglerized. Only cash and jewelry taken ... And my laptop. But not my Mom's laptop. They really scowered the house. We have a lot of presidential dollars sitting around in places around the house and they found almost all of them....even a bunch my mom had in a box under her bed. But not a bunch of mine out in plain sight. Make me think their were two of them. One did my Mom's area and one did mine. Pissed me off cuz they got all of my Abraham Lincoln dollars. Couple hundred dollars worth. I dint mind the hundreds of dollars in cash they took as much.
And took two of my favorite rings. A light blue topaz stones in gold band given to me by my mom at the beginning if my cancer treatment (light blue = prostate cancer) and my "gay" ring with a spectrum of stones: ruby, orange sapphire, yellow sapphire, emerald, blue sapphire, and purple amethyst. I just had that ring made at Thanksgiving. Gotta go to the jewelry store today and have them both remade.
Also gotta get safes installed in the house, evidently.
Police say this is happening sporatically in the neighborhoods around here. Maybe sign of the economic times. We have lived here 45 years and have been able to say we don't even have noise, much less crime. Obviously, I've got to change my negligent ways and not have cash and jewelry just lying around in the house. Oh I just checked they didn't find the silver. Whew!
It has occured to me that the sheriff used to live just a few doors down. I wonder if his absence from the neighborhood has changed our status with the police dept. ;-)
