Hukackabee Jumps the Rails Yet Again

"One of the things that is troubling is that people see a Natalie Portman or some other Hollywood starlet who boasts of, 'Hey look, we're having children, we're not married, but we're having these children, and they're doing just fine,'" Huckabee told radio host Michael Medved on Monday.

    http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/41913720/ns/today-entertainment/

Now Huckabee is trying to pretend he didn't say what he did, just like his claim that President Obama was raised in Kenya. His handlers now say he "misspoke."

And Huckabee might need to be told that Natalie Portman is not a "starlet" but a major Hollywood star, with previous leading roles in big-budget releases, who just won the Academy Award for Best Actress [The Swan]. Reminiscent of Republican Dan Quayle attacking Murphy Brown in 1992 because it showed a favorable portrayal of a single mother on TV. These right-wing Republicans are all cut from the same bigoted cloth. icon_razz.gif

Your tactic is to attack me personally, and not to discuss or defend Huckabee's actual words. I think you lose the point.

No Art, my tactic is to call you on your utter paranoid generalizations based simply on your own words. You stated "All Right-Wing Republicans are cut from the same bigoted cloth". Sorry, but that is neither fair or true. Now, you can keep painting them all with the same broad brush, but all it really does is make you look more delusional.

As for Huckabee, trust me, I am no fan. I find him hard to look at, and even harder to listen to. His comments pertaining to Natalie Portman were pertaining to unwed mothers. He has an opinion about such things, though albeit somewhat archaic, and he is entitled to his "family values-based" opinion on such things. Doesn't necessarily make him a bigot, nor does it make a right wing Republicans bigots.

Art rarely makes points, only nutty generalizations. His history of delusion and paranoia around the halls of RJ are well-documented.

Actually the correct quote is: "These right-wing Republicans are all cut from the same bigoted cloth." Not "All Republicans." Who's the delusional one here?

You might try using cut and paste to quote me correctly. By "these" I meant right-wing Republicans like Huckabee, and his political antecedents such as Dan Quayle. You're still grasping at straws, and making no points.

This DOES make him a bigot, who's trying to further his political ambitions by playing to and reinforcing the bigotry of the religious right haters who make up the base of the Repub party:

I made my point, thank you very much, and it was not a "BOGUS personal attack", but rather merely an observation icon_lol.gif

curiousjockAZ, Art was very specific in saying ,"THESE right-wing Republicans are all cut from the same bigoted cloth." referring exclusively to Huckabee and his ilk.

Where did you get ALL from?

I guess I was mistaken -- I stand corrected. Art is just so often guilty of making broad generalizations based on the actions of some that I guess I read it wrong. My bad.

I don't know if I'm "often guilty of broad generalizations" or just being assumed to be. I did not mean "all" right-wing Republicans. That was a gracious and gentlemanly retraction, that I acknowledge and respect. Well done to CuriousJockAZ. I hope if I find myself in a similar situation I can be as noble & classy. icon_biggrin.gif

That's how his mind works. Like when he wrote here that "ALL Muslims should be kicked out of the USA."
And what did he say after that SB?

We can wait while you look it up. (we should while you do coz it's is a poiint of privilege and business should not proceed with a Point of Privilege pending.

(Jeez could you imagine SB trying to hold his own in a situation with Robert's Rules?) icon_lol.gif

Apologies to all who have SB on ignore...

    We'd said

'Really, and did Art TELL you he meant ALL?'

    SB shot back with,

"That's how his mind works. Like when he wrote here that "ALL Muslims should be kicked out of the USA."

lol, except that he not only publicly apologized for saying that, (and this was a long time ago) he also went on at great lengths to explain why he recanted and thanked everyone who tore a strip off of him for the dressing down he got. He also took great pains to explain how the rest of us helped him achieve his changed POV.

That's a level of classy that you're not only incapable of, but that you can't even dimly comprehend.

What a breath of fresh air to hear a Rightie admit he was wrong.

Your terrible transgression can be explained because in other threads, the RJ member in question has made broad generalizations, and totally false accusations about me and other RJ members that he could never even begin to back up. You are dealing with a mind that significantly distorts reality.

I wanted to wait for SB to admit it.
I was prepared to let the thread die not adding to it until he did too. But the truth now is on here so i can leave him be.

I hate to use the word "wrong." That's very harsh. When a gentleman offers a retraction, you welcome it with equal good grace, never gloat or revel in it, but accept it as an example to follow for yourself. For surely you will err at some point in the future, none of us being perfect. And some day have to backtrack yourself. As I did about my Muslim comments regarding 9/11.

I "cross swords" (a military term) with lots of guys here. Even in the past with meninlove. That doesn't mean we are enemies, unless it becomes persistent.

CuriousJockAZ and I will likely never see eye-to-eye. I will continue to contend some of the things he posts, as he will me. But I'll remember that he behaved in a classy way, that earns my respect & admiration, for what it's worth from me. I can only hope I can do as well.

I was being totally sarcastic, actually defending CJAZ. Should have been obvious, both from the context, and that CJAZ and I almost always see eye-to-eye. Can't believe how you would miss that.

if this fool (huckabee) becomes the GOP Presidential candidate; then this former middle-of-the-road republican will NOT be voting for "the party of NO" and it's candidate....once again.

have i changed THAT much...or has the republican party deserted me?
