Why my iPad is so annoying

note: this is just things that dislike about iOS, by no means Im saying I regret getting an iPad, it just means there are certain things that could be improved.

Just an iPad and iOS hate thread where I can vent my frustrations.

    - The keyboard switches to my other alternate languages for no apparent reason and of course it replaces every single word I type in.

    - The images app is limited to only ONE sub folder, really?

    - When u make a purchase it asks you for password...if your credit card fails it asks you for you password AGAIN.

    - If your credit card fails it tells you the security code you entered was invalid...you can enter it 20 more times it'll keep telling u it's invalid until you figure out that the real problem is that you need to make room in your card WTF.

    - Safari always refreshes pages on background I never asked it to refresh in the first place, if I just go get some juice right now before finishing this post I'd have to type it again by the time I get back! And why is it that it only supports up to 8 pages?

    - When I plug my iPad to my PC it says NO CHARGING, it still magically charges.

    I'm done for now

Sorry, the world is apparently not perfect.

I hear your pain, I complain about technology all the time. I dont own an iPad, but I use iOS on iphone and can relate to most of these problems.

Safari is the worst browser of this age.

Wow I would bring it in it may have some issues and you may get it replaced while it is under warranty.

My biggest issue with it is that I can't search off of a word like I can on my laptop. It is a minor issue but I like to research information and it is important to me.

Other than that I have not had issues except for my husband never letting me use it and the annoying ass games he plays on it. Not sure how to fix that and I doubt the genus bar can help either.

no I wouldnt return my iPad, any system has isues, these are mostly minor isues that can be fixed with a simple software upgrade. Im just pointing out flaws and encoraging ipad or ios users in general to post things that bothers them about their devices on this thread icon_wink.gif

Just wait for the ipad3. It will be thinner by .0005mm. It will be so pretty, you'll forget about all the issues you're experiencing with iOS. icon_lol.gif

As a stockholder of Apple, I have to say 'Thank You' for all you guys do for me!

Don't forget: If you don't own the latest version of iPad or iPhone, then you're a pathetic loser!

Autocorrect has put me in more than one bind. The last one was when it changed my friend "Skippy" to "sloppy", which in context was awful. Turned it the "he'll" off.

Safari never does that for me unless I close the app and come back to it... And that's really annoying to me.

    The USB charging thing though...

The USB port you are using is not high powered so wont charge the iPad while being used. However if you leave the iPad overnight unused it will charge it albeit slowly it's like trickle charging the battery.

But why say it can be charged and then put a bunch of arbitrary stuff on doing it? It makes for a convaluted experience "YES we can charge me on this port but please put me to sleep while doing it"

Remember Charlie, the iPad isn't built for you and I who are intelligent enough to actually understand everything that happens on it. It's built for the masses and the masses and computers well they are stupid.

The iPad is for the masses. It's design, it's build, it's operating system... Mass appeal mass stupidity.

The average Linux user tends to know and understand computers better then the overage windows or osx user.

I know exactly why the USB displays NO CHARGING, I just think it makes no sense because IT IS CHARGING, slow or not it STILL CHARGES. why not instead LOW CHARGE?

About Safari, it will automatically refresh the page whether you switch to other apps or not, if you leave your phone long enough it will go on stand by mode and once you wake up your phone and go back to your browser Safari will refresh the page. Even if it only did it when swtiching to other apps, it doesnt make any sense, it shouldnt refresh and I think the only reason why it does this is because Apple's browser is a memory hug and it sucks, thats also the only reason why the pages are only limited to 8 tabs, NOT EVEN because once you switch tabs and you try to go back to the one you just loaded up first it already freed the memory for that page and it has to refresh. BULLSHIT.

I love my iPad and my iPhone, I wouldnt change any of the two for the available "competition", but that doesnt mean they're perfect. iOS is full of flaws like any other platform, and just because I like it doesnt mean I should just become some sort of blind fanatic and just totally ignore these problems.

My iPhone and iPad don't do that and I even checked.. Doesn't do it.

I never said the iphone or iPad are perfect they are far from it... But then I look at android.

And at what point did i ever say you couldn't dislike something? Im just sick of the flash thing you keep harping on about.

I didnt mention flash on this thread, you did. To test the Safari refresh you have to give it some minutes it doesnt happen right away.

    TheGuyNextDoor saidI hear ya Ben.
The iPad is far from perfect and there's a lot of things I wish they'd address on it.
Would really love if there was a USB port on the side as well as the bottom so it could be charged or sat in a dock/keyboard etc. in landscape mode... amongst other things..
That said, I still think, like the phone,, it's the most convenient pad out there.

I actually went to Best Buy today to have a sales rep tell me what I could do with it, given that I already had a netbook and any USB ports, SD slots, etc. wouldn't be terribly important. I gave up my iPhone last summer for Android and like my Samsung Capivate, but after seeing the clusterfuck of the Motorola Xoom and other Android tablets, I can't bring myself to buying an Android tablet because they're not ready for prime time. I'd wait 6 months, but I like to have my gadgets as soon as they're available. For phones I'm willing to tinker and configure, but multimedia devices should just kinda *work*. I kinda get why they didn't put a USB port on it for the simple fact that you'd have to create a larger OS footprint to address every peripheral contingency in terms of drivers.

Once the rep mentioned that the iOS 4.3 update would allow Home Sharing (I still have iTunes installed and 2 iPods), I decided that I could stand to add another piece of tech to my menagerie when the new model comes out next week so that I can stream my library from the iPad. I'll admit I'm kinda looking forward to getting a connected Apple device again. I would, however, like for iTunes to stop locking up when I plug my Classic in the first time. I end up force closing iTunes and reopening it to get it to sync. I've set the iPod back to factory and uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes already. I think they just make it so that it only works smoothly on a Mac icon_rolleyes.gif

I hate that about the browser too on my iPhone. All you have to do is open more than one web page. Stay on one for a few minutes, then go back to the other one and it will auto-reload everything all over again :. Also, Safari on iPhone caps how much content a page will show and it's really annoying. I guess it's that memory hog thing you are talking about.

For example. Search up something in Google image search, then start sliding through them, after about the 13-14th page, Safari stops rendering content, it just starts showing empty boxes where images should be. This happens on blog sites too. Look up a blog page on tumblr. Then do archive mode or just normal mode and thumbing down content in the page. Eventually content just stops being shown except for empty boxes and place holders..

And I wish they would stop bs'ing about Flash and just allow it. There is no real reason not to except just to be controlling and putting company politics ahead of users. Honestly I'm getting tired of Apple's psycho control of the app store and banning apps or requiring the censoring or editing of content. It's definitely not the way tech should go.

I just don't like that you can't upload pics in the browser. Surprised nobody else has mentioned it ... or am I doing something wrong? This is why I have no face pic here yet.
