    Wow!

    4327967.binCheck it out!

OTTAWA — After a brief hiatus, the battle for reader photo of the week came back, and it was an ugly fight. In fact, you might say our top two entries fought like cats and dogs.

But in the end, Mabel Ong's photo of her friends cats won by a whisker.

"My friend's four male cats very gingerly ventured out of the house to check out the winter scene. Jake, the front cat, is unperturbed by the snow and marches forward gallantly. The last two cats, Alfie and Indy are hesitant and more cautious," Ong wrote when she submitted her photo.

We thank Ong for sending us this excellent shot, and congratulate her on winning the honour of reader photo of the week.

For this achievement, she wins a coveted Ottawa Citizen coffee mug and bragging rights.

She also qualifies for our monthly top reader photo contest, with prizes including a voucher from Henry's for $150 for the top reader photo for each month, and $75 each for two honourable mentions.

Your friend got their names wrong! ... OMG!

That's Kitler (Alfie) in front, followed by Indy, Fletcher, and Jake . Where's Sandy?

And don't let those cute kittens fool you , folks. They will scratch you up and leave you for roadkill. Except Kitler, he's too brain dead, I think.

Alfie is just like the baby on Dinosaurs (for those who remember that show) "gotta love me!"
Indy is the brain dead one.

    Fletch is his Lordship
Jake is the tough old survivor who has become very affectionate over time.

Sandy(Danny's Siamese) is very timid and rarely ventures outside. She immediately snuggled up to his Lordship, plays with Alfie, loathed Indy on sight and is indifferent to old Uncle Jake.

I call her "Little Miss" (extra points for anyone who can identify what work that name comes from.)

Very cute and GOD.. I can't believe all that snow.
I can see why that would get notice....if it had been taken here in Kansas
it would win an award.. but I don't know if I've even seen that much snow!

    Congrats on the award!

Actually she isn't wrong interpreting "front" as "nearest to the camera" and "back" as "furthest". Looked at that way, she has their names correct.

Jake doesnt look like he's the one marching forward unperturbed by the snow.
