Im just curious what other guys think about guys that speak more than one language. Is it a turn on or a turn off? I personally find it a turn on, but maybe its because im multilingual.

I don't think it is a turn on, neither do I think it is a turn off, I am just neutral about it. I am multilingual, but it only secures me interesting jobs, not men. icon_smile.gif

Unilingual guys are just as attractive to me as bilingual or multilingual guys. I am multilingual, but I don't think it makes me any more special than the next guy.

No i agree with that, but sometimes it feels like u connect more if u both speak different languages. well at least for me since my first language was not english when i came to the States.

Anything that shows effort has been made is a PLUS. I have dated many men who are unilingual and many who are multilingual. However, it doesn't turn me on in the sense you are referring too.

If I absolutely had to choose, look at this way:

Take two men who are fit, have the same personality, same age, same good looks.

One of them is unilingual, the other one is multilingual.

I would go with the multilingual man because it shows that he has put more effort into an area that will improve his over lifestyle.

How can knowing a second language be a turn-off? Neutral, sure, but not a turn-off.

I'd be more than happy with a guy who can speaks more than one language.

I'd hope that he'd be willing to teach me; I think languages are really fascinating and taking an interest in your boyfriend's heritage is a good thing,
also I don't want him complaining about me to his family or friends in a language I haven't got a clue abouticon_razz.gif

Having said that, being a native English speaker in a foreign country you get people wanting to date you so they can practice their English; it's not exactly the idea basis for a relationship.

Neutral, but the guys I'm with usually say they like it when I speak spanish to my mom or how convenient it is when there is a need for a translator.

Of course being multilingual is an attractive quality. It shows that the guy has some interest in the world. He probably loves to travel, which is also a big turn-on.

Knowing another language and actually using it are two different things. It's only good to know if you use if fluently. It's not a turn off and could easily be a turn on especially during certain moments. If I had to choose between a unilingual or a multilingual person I would go for the person who made me feel the best regardless of how many languages they spoke.

I think being multilingual is a huge turn on. In fact, I would have a hard time dating a guy who didn't speak English AND Spanish simply b/c I would feel like I couldn't share half my life w/ the guy.

In that sense, being multilingual might be a turn-off for some guys (even if they don't realize it) b/c a large portion of the guy's bf's friends and family may not be able to communicate in his language.

There is a saying in Spanish, " Un hombre que puede hablar dos lenguas vale dos hombres" which in English means-A man who can speak two languages is worth two men.
I find that many of the guys I have had an attraction to were at least bilingual. It helps to broaden communication, esp. since there are some ideas or sayings that cannot be translated directly. Maybe this comes from the fact that I'm a 1st-generation American living in the Borderland and have dated non-English speaking guys.
And for me, there are some things I feel more comfortable saying in English vs. Spanish and vice a versa. I find I can speak more openly in Spanish about my feelings, but in English to explain a problem. Just my two cents!

Hej, hur står det til? Tyvärr jag talar inte holländska. Men jag tror du är söt. icon_wink.gif

I definitely go for multilingual guys...I speak a few languages myself and its more fun when the other guy does, too.
