Although I am gay I still hold to some of the religious practices I was raised with as a Catholic. Lent is one of them.
I have decided to give up signing onto Real Jock for the 40 days. No chat, emails, or surfing RJ. As I am on here every day this is going to be a real challenge for me. There are many guys here that I chat with and have got to know, and a few have even become very close friends.
So tell me your thoughts and leave your comments. I won't be able to read then until Easter but hey, it's the spirit of the thing right? Lol

I am not going to eat at Arby's.

Probably haven't stepped foot in one in over 10 years, but I believe in having realistic expectations.

Good one. I used to love the roast beef sammiches until I realized every time I ate one I got chest pains. So sad to lose the ones I loved. icon_cry.gif Referring to them sammiches I mean.

I guess you feel like you've been dumped on enough by now?

Well, I'm with you. I don't believe in giving things up for lent in the sense that one stacks up some points or something - but I find it a very useful time to look over my habits and needs, and see where I may can get back ion control over various bad habits. So I'm giving up alcohol for Lent - been drinking too much; I'm not spending anything on anything non-essential- been using the card too much; and I'm looking for some useful things to support/volunteer for - been far too wrapped up in my own groove.

And I'm going to "do" all the Lent/Easter things: vigils, etc. Not because I think they stack up more points, but because I think they take me out of myself a bit, and are part of a long and deep tradition of spirituality which re-enforces that there are bigger things out there than just me.

Sort of a useful house-cleaning. Happy Lent!

I haven't given up anything for Lent in the last few years. Instead, I try to do something positive that's hard for me to do.
Last year, I reconciled with an old enemy.
This year, I am being extra nice to a co-worker who just doesn't like me. I've brought her coffee, included her in chats with my friends and will bring her a little bouquet of flowers next week.
She's puzzled, but our relationship has improved enormously. It's not easy being nice to her because she has an abrasive personality, but I'm doing my best.

How can you not like RBs? (Get it, roast beef?)
It good MOOOOOD Food. Plus the guy in the commercial is nerdy cute icon_twisted.gif

Being rasied catholic I will eat fish on fridays during lent--because I like fish and don't really eat enough. Never quite figured out how fish isn't meat, but when the church corners the market on fish, who's going to argue with the pope?
