Some people need to get what]s coming to them, and they don't/can't because the law protects everyone from violence but if two people want to duke it out i say let them do it alone without legal repercussions. violence comes out under the surface anyways, so its healthier to give it a path when it happens without interference.

besides. how much can you know about yourself if you've never been in a fight?

    thanks tyler

Let me ask this question. How many of you have ever really felt like beating the living daylights out of someone (that someone who was abusive and cruel and got away with it) but stopped short because of what you would lose because of it.

I wouldn't mind "exchanging blows" with a few guys. icon_twisted.gif

Fist Fighting is the act of last resort for me....and I know what I am made of....but, I never considered fighting to be a form of "entertainment"...I never appreciated the MMA, boxing or Muay Thai type competitions.

If two guys want to go fight just for shits and giggles,....I agree, let them find a place and agree to some sort of rules....and go do it!....Is anyone that dumb though? guys in their teens and 20's I could see this being entertainment, but hopefully guys will grow up and get over this need for violence after they hit 30 or so....icon_rolleyes.gif

Got into a total fist fight with my ex-brother-in-law....when I caught him hitting my sister(at the time...his wife) I broke his jaw, his nose, 3 ribs, eye socket, his wrist and his knee......My sister stopped me from killing him by hitting my back several times with her cast iron skillet...
I was going after total violence against him.....full power.....no stopping til I was brought out of my blind rage. They were having marital problems before this happened, and were divorced shortly after....he wanted to file charges against me, until the rest of the story came out that he was hitting my sister.....
my sister is 4'9", and about 100lbs....he is 6'6" about 200lbs....very weird and violent.......Took me 6 months to get past the anger I had from catching him hitting my sister.... icon_eek.gif

I have been in jail because of fighting; twice, and had to fight while in jail. That's why I think and don't act anymore because I don't want to ever go back there, I don't ever want to go back there,

I don't ever want to go back. I was jumped by 5 men and had my jaw ground into the cement, and other things. If I would have fought then, maybe nothing would have happened to me.

I am sick of people walking on me and getting away with it.

Sounds like you got SPUNK. I like spunk. (Mary Tyler Moore reference if you're too young to know). Sounds like you need a wrestling mate. I wouldn't walk all over you.

You're gonna find that people only walk all over you if you let them. I know everyone's heard that before and we all think, "what the fuck does that mean?"

You have to find the strength inside to not respond to shitty people, or to put your hand up in their face the moment they start trying to weasel their way in and say "That's unacceptable to me. I won't tolerate it."

Then you put them in a long sleeper/scissor combo hold until their face turns blue, run your tongue over their face like you're about to eat their head off, and whisper in their ear, "Don't fuck with me."

I have. But I think it's better to sublimate it through movies and other outlets. One film in particular deals with this issue very well (if you don't mind subtitles):

    Sylas,

Are you into MMA? (I know profile says Martial Arts). Might be an excellent outlet. I know several guys into MMA and they love it.

Wait, what? You got jumped by 5 guys and you didn't even try to fight back because you were afraid you'd go to jail? That makes no sense. Please elaborate on this scenario.

I destroyed all my childhood friendships because of violence... Always fighting over the hot chick on the block named Stacey. I even beat her brother until my stepdad came out and grabbed us both by the hair and banged our heads together... Her brother BTW was homosexual. I would probably still know Stacey today if I had never done that. Violence is not the way, or at least not the way to spare brotherhood on this earth.

    cold saidI disagree.

The law exists in its current state because, as a whole, society has agreed that violence isn't an acceptable way to resolve conflict. If we were to let two people fight just because they wanted to, then what does our culture have to illegitimate war or gang violence.

Practically speaking, sanctioned violence also would create an unnecessary burden on the legal system. How do you regulate such a fight? Can the parties withdraw midway through? Would they have to sign a contract? If not, how do you prove that they agreed to the fight? What happens if the contract turns out to be void and on party dies as a result of the fight? Surely people would manipulate the system (duress, undue influence, relationship of trust) and use other means to force you to 'agree' to the fight, what happens then? What if a third party gets injured?

So...are you against violence for defensive purposes or not? Consider the right to keep and bear arms.
What would and should you do if someone immediately attacks you or a loved one for some reason, and the police were too late?
