I'm a masculine guy, most people wouldn't think i was gay by just walking past me. I often wonder when I'm at the gym how many of the hot guys that i always see working out are like me and are thinking to themselves, man...id love to tap that!

How do you know?!?!?! My gardar is extreamly bad, but surly there are hot gay's at my gym!!!!!!!

    Advice?

I don't think it's cruising to want to meet guys at the gym - how else are you going to meet guys who you share an interest with and are in good shape - where would you recommend someone meet a guy, FearTheFall?

I would have thought there's gay guys at pretty much any gym because as we know, gay men do like to keep in shape (generally speaking). Identifying them if your gaydar sucks is difficult and I don't really have any advice, but why not try striking up conversations with guys you are interested in and see where it goes? At the least you might get yourself a few training buddies, and at the best you might get a new buff boyfriend.

I am very straight acting... My boyfriend said he wondered about me for a couple months until he said he caught my eyes wondering from afar one day... Once we started dating I was amazed to find out how many of the gym regulars were gay...

    Good luck!!

There is no such thing as Gaydar. Also what do you want a cookie for people on the street not being able to tell your Gay? icon_rolleyes.gif Is that some sort of accomplishment? I'm sure most people on the street are too consumed about their own lives to be worried about something as minuscule as one's sexual orientation.

Someone answer for me because I'd love to know: What is "looking gay" or being able to tell one's sexual orientation? What are the indicators? I'd love to tap into this imaginary "Gaydar" that many here profess to have.

Amen Brother! lol. I have been distracted lately by a couple questionable guys at my gym. I need to get my head back into the game and keep pushing.

I'm at the gym for a reason and that's to work out, so I don't pay much attention to what's up on the gay front, not that I haven't wondered about a few of the guys there.

However, I've come to the conclusion that my YMCA is mostly straight, just a few gays occasionally so I dont spend much time thinking about it.

Does being gay qualify you as being NOT masculine or perhaps "sissified"? I'm gay, dude. I'm really gay. My boyfriend is gay. But we too are really masculine by definition: having qualities or appearance traditionally associated with men, esp. strength and aggressiveness.

I'm not trying to tear down your topic/forum but have to say I think of gay men as masculine. Yes, there are plenty of those who flit and are effeminate and garner much attention as gay men and that's their choice for whatever the reason but I believe, the less obvious and most of us, even in the gym who happen to be gay, are masculine in nature.

So how do we find each other (especially if you have "weak gaydar")? You play it cool, do your workout and eventually, sly glances and yep, perhaps, underwear might clue you in to the sexual orientation of the gym guys around you. We are everywhere and, give it time, because the others like you are just as curious and will look back eventually, too.

That's beautiful, we should have some kind of theme song which incorporate that imagery.

Well good point, but between sets, I look around. Who doesn't?
I notice the hotties... I get stares. People notice others, straight or gay.

That doesn't work in Los Angeles, most of the straight guys are gayer then the gay guys.

I wear boxers or CK trunks, can you tell by that? icon_confused.gif

All guys, straight or gay, check out other guys in the gym -- it's human nature. Some are just more subtle than others.

I must be doing it all wrong. First, I don't typically show my underwear in the gym (if I'm wearing any... depends on whether my gym shorts have a built in lining). And I wouldn't wear my "good" underwear anyway because I'm just going to sweat and get them nasty. So my gym underwear would definitely make me look straight according to some of the earlier posts.

my point exactly.. we all want to feel on some hot muscular God.icon_razz.gif I never see people staring at the fat guy at the gym. maybe they dont want to embarrass him but men tend to stare a lot... women stare for a few seconds but men seem to stare at each other a lot more... voyeurism skills.

That is so old school ( i know cus that is what i was doing) My behavior has been corrected. Young guys wear their best underwear to the gym now.
