I was in the Northridge Quake in Los Angeles in the early 90's and it was only a 6.3 and it was bad enough. I can't even imagine an 8.8. YIKES!

Just had some calls with our Tokyo office called off due to the quake. The whole pacific coast of the country is under a tsunami watch. This is the year of the natural disasters! Earthquakes, fires, floods, cyclones... yikes!

I just saw it too. Oh my god, so many people must have been caught in that. Did you see the cars driving down the road getting caught up in it? That would be terrifying

I don't think I have ever seen anything like this. That water and wall of sludge is surreal to watch -- Damn! icon_eek.gif They say the Tsunami is headed to Taiwan and Russia

Just wait the west coast is due for the "big one" and the fault in the mid-west, I think around Memphis if I remember correctly, is ready for one too at some point.

It's not surprising that more and more quakes are happening around the world. I was watching a show the other day about how in history, there have been periods of massive geological activities followed by periods of relatively quiet eras.

The show said during "biblical" times, it was a time of more activity or at least the end of this kind of time then for thousands of years the world saw a quiet period, when we built our mega cities along major fault lines. So the show said now it's time for a heavy period.

I've already wondered why some of the world's largest cities are built in areas of known geological activity.

It's like watching a Steven Spielberg movie -- those poor people. They just said Hawaii and even the west coast of the US could be hit if tsunamis go in the other direction from the epicenter

Geologists here in Oregon are saying we should prepare for a 3 to 6 foot tall tsunami wave to hit the coastline. The west coast is expected to fall under warnings and watches. Scary stuff. Thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Japan

    Oh CRAP! Those poor people!

I had a bad feeling when the earth quake hits NZ, japan is on the same massive fault. I thought it was going to be sooner or later.

I have a trip booked to Japan in May. I can't think really worry about it I guess icon_sad.gif

Yes west coast is under a watch now. Hawaii is under a warning meaning something is going to hit. The watch means there is a chance.

What is going on in that region? Floods in Australia, earthquake in New Zealand and now this. It's like the whole Pacific plate it shifting.
