Why are there no lesbians at RealJock.com?

Is this place gay men only? Would lesbians be welcome here?

I think they make a great addition to the Gay Mafia. I know I could personally pick out a few Dons (or Donnas as the case may be).

What do you think? Would you be adverse to this site if lesbians started visiting?

its called REAL JOCK! i would not be opposed. i love the lesbians. a few of them are my best friends. but from my experience and knowledge some of them dont like gay men... and the feelings mutual. not sure how keen they'd be on seeing guys shirtless and vice the versa. i think it would be a totally different take on the site. like a spinoff of sorts.

    Some...

I wouldn't expect that ALL lesbians would be here, just the athletic ones. There's probably quite a few gay men uncomfortable in the company of lesbians (just a guess), but it's not like lesbians would be trying to hit up on gay men for sex. I wouldn't think RJ.com would tolerate public topless pics of women. It's still hosted in the U.S. Maybe there's already a lesbian fitness site.

I have a lot of respect for lesbian. They go thru what we go thru, they are discriminated just like us. But this site is call Real Gay Jock, where we discuss gay topic and gay related matter. Beside our attraction for the same sex, I dont think there much in common between gay and lesbian issue. So please , keep it man only.

I dont think I will remain in this site, if lesbian related issue is discuss here. I dont have anything to contribute.

I usually consider "gay" as a term for men, and "lesbian" for women-- eg GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), etc. Although sometimes gay is used to describe both sexes. But I think many people who identify as lesbian might feel thay "Gay Fitness Community" should say :Gay & Lesbian Fitness Community" to include them

Also, things like having "Gay Men's Health" without "Gay Women's Health" support this feeling.

I'll accept that this might just have been a dumb question. ;D

McGay I don't think it's really a dumb question at all. I love our lesbian sisters and I'd love to see them on the site.

The problem is that I think the site would totally have to retool itself. Most of the programs and articles are definitely phallocentric. Since womens' fitness needs are going to be a lot different than mens' the site would have to add lesbian writers and recenter itself to a more gender neutral format.

It is sort of nice to have the site dedicated exclusively to gay males, but since I adore lesbians it would be cool to have some around.

Is he personally able to break that stereotype? :D

At the risk of killing some good banter, I hope it's recognized that that was a tongue in cheek remark.

    Uh--no.
Just like in an office environment, there are some topics that are not proper to discuss in front of women whether they are lesbians, hookers, regular women, etc.
I am sure they have their own sites where they talk about chick stuff and certainly don't want guys(even the fem ones) in on their business.
And someone please define what a gay mafia is?
I thought it was a covey of feminine male gay personal assistants in an office.

They are athletes to but I do not see any place on the site that states sexual preference
on realjock. Personally, I think their inclusion would add a new level of community.

I know some very cool lesbians, without question we are all in this(the gay community) together. I also believe there is a lesbian agenda, and what do I mean by agenda? Case in point, here in chicago our gay film fest used to be called the gay film fest, now it's called the lesbian and gay film fest, with more then a heavy helping of lesbian films, which used to be the exact opposite. Also the LOGO channel, is turning very much lesbian these days. What I'm saying is, lesbians have more opportunities now to make places for themselves in a male dominated gay world. I think when lesbians find an opportunity to promote their agenda they take it as anyone would, I think same thing would happen here if lesbians came to the site. Just my opinon.

I number some cool lesbians among my friends and clients. But I definitely feel that there is nothing wrong with having places (either in cyber or reality) that are set up by and for only gay men or only lesbians. While there is much that can be gained and accomplished when we work together, there is also something to be said for some separateness. Women are more than willing to be exclusionary in their social settings when they feel so inclined, and I support them. But perhaps we, as gay men, feel some sort of guilt when we say we want to have our own space. Maybe we need to get over that, let them have their stuff, we have ours, and then the stuff we share in common.

    Just my two cents.

I'd love to see some women on here for they could, if nothing else, perhaps rebuffs some of the frankly misogynistic rhetoric coming from some of my bros on this site.

they are the ones with beards :-)

no problem with the rug munchers being on here as long as they dont start a pissing contest. Nah thats typecasting and thats so wrong. I know some great lesbians who are into bodybuilding but also keep fit and would be a great assett to the site
