Sexual orientation aside, do any of you wish you lived in a different era then the present. Again disregard your orientation!

Disregarding my orientation I would of preferred being born in 1940 so I could grow up and witness the fifties in my teens. Experience the birth of my favorite genre of music (Rock N' Roll) and just drive around on a still open countryside.

Including my sexual orientation I'd say bring on Ancient Greece baby!

At the height of the Roman empire but only if I was Roman, haha.

Orgies, all day banquets, and naked Olympics. Good time decadence for everyone! icon_biggrin.gif

I love the '20s '30s & 40's. I do have a feeling I did live during that time period in a previous lifetime.

Maybe the 60's and 70's that would seem a lot of fun. Or going further back then that, then maybe the first day "humans" the ones that resemble us, came.

i don't think any double minority would want to live in a time in the past. take gay away and we're still at a disadvantage.

I always said I was reincarnated from the 1940's. Love the style back then and the music beats anything made today.

I would love to go back and live in the 30's, 40's or 50's and see what Detroit was really like before everyone moved out to the suburbs.

I grew up IN detroit in teh 70's and 80's......the 70's were nice. I miss Christmas shopping with my mom in downtown every Christmas. Hudson building, cobo hall.....everywhere was so decorated and SAFE.

Summers there were always ethnic food festivals. And then Coleman Young ruined it. Sigh!

Exactly, I'd love to have that big city feel come back...doubt that'll ever happen though.

Absolutely. Ever since my first US history class I took in high school I have been fascinated with the 1920's and 30's. Even though The Great Depression was in the 1930's I still think it would be awesome to have lived back then. Also in the 1920's was all the gangs and mafia stuff happened. And they all wear those cool flat brimmed hats...I was alway jealous of those. Some people think I'm weird because I want to live through The Great Depression.

Edit- Also int he 1920's was prohibition which would have been AWESOME! All the speakeasies and bootleggers...sounds like fun to me!

As a young kid, I was always interested in technology and "what the future would bring", but now, I think I was born at the right time.

My grandfather was born in 1917 and died in 1997. A few years before he passed he told me that it was unlilkely I would see the same changes he saw. He grew up in rural Oklahoma...lived when automobiles became ubiquitious, indoor plumbing became popular, jet planes, telephones, world wars, depression, expansion, pocket calculators became PCs and became the internet.Cell phones, and the list goes on.

Hmm. Good question. I would have loved to been around in the early Roman Empire, or the second Han dynasty in China. For US, the 20s as an adult
