Hey guys. Like many Americans, I've been at the job search for a long time. I have my BA and have been looking for work in the entertainment industry. I've got experience but my contacts have nothing.

Anyone know of anything good? Gotta start being able to pay the grocery bill haha.

Well I'm not going to post my resume! I'm looking for behind the scenes work. Like a production assistant. My search has not been going well. I just want someone to give a chance. Just frustrated, my personal and professional life is as dry as the desert !

It helps if you're an excellent cocksucker. If you're not, you haven't a prayer. Of course, you could always start a thread like this: http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/1428889

Apparently, prayer's all the rage today.

another tragic story of a person coming to la to become something in the film and television industry just to leave in 10 years with their tail between their legs. icon_confused.gificon_sad.gif my friends and i who grew up here have seen this happen way too much! its expensive to live here, you need a car, patience and great connections.

my friend's brother just got hired as an assistant for matthew morrison's manager. he is loving it but it took him a while... hes great looking (that really helps), he has an amazing resume and it a genius writer. oh, and he knows a lot of people!

Truth needs to be told. You have to really want it and put up with door after door being slammed. So many guys spend a long time waiting tables and tending bars while waiting. I know one guy who in his mid 20s was on a regular TV show playing the part of a high school kid. His friends always made fun of him, but he told them just having a steady job is considered success and that over 95% of the people don't work steady.

I agree, I went to school with many actors/actresses/production people and many of them moved out to LA and haven't had success finding work. Sure there are many opportunities out there, but there are many, many more people moving out there for that same reason. The only person who I know who had success in that regard was already on TV for 2 years or so as a news anchor in a small city, was found by someone at a major production company and was given a job in LA. If you really want to be in that industry, most good sized cities have ways for you to get your mug on TV, but if your sights are set on Hollywood, good luck...

You gotta hustle. Go to tapings of TV shows. Go to cattle calls for movie/TV extras. Meet people. Network. Get your face out there so that people will remember you.

Don't get it twisted. I'm not out here to be an actor/model. I just want to work in production, anywhere. I got the confidence it takes so haters can wait for my name to roll in the credits.

dont get it twisted? who are you? lol getting into any job worth doing is hard. my ex worked as a pc because his dad built j.d. roth's house (producer of the biggest loser and for love or money). seriously.... hardwork wont get you very far. it isn't a job that requires just hard work... it requires you to be liked and well known by people who hand out the jobs.

I have no idea why this simple convo turned into a diss on people following their dreams. All jealousy.
