Chances are, that this guy somehow promoted the advances or he wouldn't have come back multiple times, much less daily visits as the article implies. This young guy may have had second thoughts, felt guilty and consulted the bible to see how his actions fell in with 'god's' word.

Needless to say the guy sure wasn't very stable, had he been stable, if he didn't like the advances, it only would have happened a time or two and he wouldn't have returned. Here again is another example of how religious people and the unstable bible thumpers can justify just about anything.

To paraphrase Bill Maher, "The Bible. They never really read it, they just wave it around."

    Interesting to note:
"Though the relationship is still unknown, Thomas was the sole executor of Seidman's will and knew how much money was in Seidman's bank accounts, police say."

"John Joe Thomas, the 28-year-old man who stoned mentally handicapped senior citizen Murray Seidman to death, was a priest in the Mormon church"

And most of those who actually do read it either turn atheist or agnostic.
The rest tend to use it as an excuse for the heinous bullshit they wanted to do in the first place, while pretending to believe it.

First, it sounds like the guy who did the beating probably has some sort of mental disorder ... that is ... if he wasn't just in it for the money.

Second, thankfully most Christians don't believe the punishments of the Old Testament apply anymore because of the sacrifice of Christ. Yes, the majority of Christians believe a homosexuality is a sin, but that's another issue entirely.

And before anyones flames me, I'm just explaining facts. It doesn't help the gay community to oversimplify this down to a case of an evil Bible thumper.

    Woah...
I thought this was going to be a joke article, a la The Onion.
Poor guy (the one who got killed I mean, though I feel bad for the deranged guy as well for being... deranged).

So he's not a Bible thumper? A sheep? Or is he using religion as a guise for homophobia? Who would ever have thought that could happen!?!icon_rolleyes.gif

Move to the rural deep south, live there for a few years, then come back and see if you agree with what you just wrote. icon_wink.gif

This is not so. Most who have read the Bible and understand it, will never become atheist or agnostic. And I am one of those people.

People who mis-use the Bible to justify their evil intents are simply using the Bible to mask their evil deeds and dark heart.

    Mt 25:31-46
"But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. All the peoples will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.

"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the Cosmos.

For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'

"Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'

" The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'

"Then He will also say to those on His left, ' Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.'

"Then they themselves also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?'

Then He will answer them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Jesus teaching is that 'we should love one another' , 'Mercy triumphs over Judgment', 'By what measure we measure others, so shall we be measured'.

There is a huge difference between the Moses Covenant (a bilateral Contract with God) and the New Covenant of Jesus, a unilateral contract given by God.

The first Mosaic contract condemns everyone to death for none but Jesus could keep it.

But with the latter, God saves all who receive and believe the New Covenant of Jesus. It's a gift that can not be earned by anyone. It is not based upon how good we are.

That man who killed a gay male is guilty of murder in the eyes of God. And by what measure he measured out 'his' justice, so shall he be so judged by God.

I see no reason to judge Christianity by what this very misguided hate filled man did. Christianity ought to be Judged by that which is written in the New Testament in its' full context.

No, Christians kill homos too. It was common up until a few decades ago. In fact, it's still common among random heterosexual males who aren't particularly religious but are particularly homophobic.
