    All the time.

I buy a new video game.

It's not perfect but it works - video games don't tell you that you are old and//or ugly and/or mean and video games definitely do not leave you for a 17 year old twink that suddenly learns how to log in on Grindr.

I think mostly feeling obsolete has to do with a more internal problem. I feel if you ever wanna get over this, you should work on your self esteem icon_smile.gif

In a way, yes - I have this feeling that I'll be passed over for a job for someone who's just now graduating school. Which would make me obsolete before I was even current icon_sad.gif

But I deal by continuing to apply everywhere and working out. And knitting.

Too late, I suddenly have an urge to turn on an 8 track of Neil Diamond.

    I'm doomed.

Perfect timing for this question. I turn 49 next week. Yes, at times I feel obsolete. I'm a steno pad in an i-pad kinda world.

This feeling of obsolescence is what got me to the gym two years ago when I weighed 200+ pounds and had a size 38 waist. Feeling depressed and sorry for myself was starting to really become a drag.

I worked my ass off (and 40 pounds and 8 pant sizes) and it's been worth every drop of sweat. I've never had more confidence.

You're what RJ is all about....inspiring others to get off their ass....I weighed 222 a couple years ago and had a 40" waist...and was on high cholesterol medication and high blood pressure pills......

Now, no medications, 33" waist. My Dr. was stunned at my transformation!
    (lost 44 lbs.)

    Life is good.

I felt obsolete last year and since then over hauled myself to the current look. I'm still a work in progress icon_smile.gif

and i bet you feel and look better than you ever did. there is NOTHING wrong with that. as for being a steno pad in an ipad world, remember, when the EMP surrounds the planet, your steno pad will work, an ipad will not. in the front hall way of my ancient house (it's your typical baltimore sear kit built house from 1924, and yes you youngsters, at one time sears was a massive supplier of ready made to ship kit built homes---- google it)
i have a really heavy rotary telephone from 1940. when we had a power failure in a blizzard this winter, it was the only phone that worked. so there is nothing wrong with what was old. my boat? from 1982. she's built like a tank because the builder was new to fiberglass and just kept adding layers of matt and woven roving. some things will be updated, like new navagation electronics and instrument panel updates, but you cannot beat the amount of solid, and i mean solid teak, in the interior. obsolete? hell no. never felt that way, never will.

I never thought anyone would really answer this question, wow, thanks guys, some really great insight. I know I’m only 22, but I was born old, and am disturbingly aware that the next model year is hot on my tail. Not looking for any kind of pity party, I’ve lead a blessed life, and am Very grateful for everything in it, but still, like everyone, I guess, I get that little voice in the back of my head that reminds me we are all being stalked by father time. But thanks to some of the things everyone has said, next time he says anything, I’ll just bitch slap him, and head out to the club with some friends, Thanks guys icon_cool.gif
