An email I sent to Grindr tech support. And does this happen to you?

Just curious if this happens to anyone else? And also, I think I'm pretty clever here using consumer complaints to get them to try to change the way they operate by treating them how they treat me. icon_smile.gif

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi,

Several months back Grindr added a feature where they notify you when someone sent you a message (or more) and then blocked you. This feature has been a burden to me, especially within the past two weeks as I see this message AT LEAST on a daily basis. I'm not sure if someone keeps sending me messages then blocking me then unblocks everyone and does the same thing over again to me just to irritate me, or perhaps there's thousands of people who feel the need to send me a message then block me and regularly spaced intervals. My profile is not particularly offensive as I change it regularly, so I know the "message then block" is not due to anything I say or how I look. Either way I don't think I need to be reminded every time there's someone out there who feels the need to send me a message and block me. Not only is this an extra button to push to get this message out of the way so I can enjoy Grindr, but I don't want to be reminded that I'm blocked on a daily basis.

I am hoping that you can at least give me or Grindr Xtra users the option of NOT receiving this message, as it used to be on Grindr before I was bombarded with this message on a daily basis. In the meantime, I will send you a picture of this message every time I receive it. That way every time someone out there feels the need to send me a message before they block me you can also be reminded of it.

    Regards,
    Jake

Why would anyone want to block you?

Weird. Grindr has never done that to me before. You must be infamous for some reason, Jake.

And side note- damn them LA guys are cuter than the guys I see in Minneapolis.

Interesting, it's never happened to me before. I would like to see that implemented too. Saves me the trouble when I log off for long amounts of time, I kind of feel bad when I come back to that...

On a side note, those guys do look hot Bullwinkle but perhaps too hot. Unless the guys above the ones who sent the messages are 'Faved' that pic is shoppppppppped since we all know guys who send you messages and aren't 'Faved' go to the top!

I spend too much time grinding, but don't do enough grinding. It's a paradox.

That's happened to me on several occasions. It was rather confusing, given I don't see why complete strangers would bother to message than block somebody.

Maybe Grindr has spam filters in place picking up on unwanted messages and then blocking them before you read them? That would be my guess.. but I've never used their service before so not too sure how they work.

    Happens all the time.
I take it as a blessing in disguise, a sort of "some asshole you narrowly escaped contact with is now not ever going to bother you again"
I like the idea of being protected from idiots.

This isn't a blessing in disguise. This is a way for people to anonymously remind me that they hate me. This is annoying as FUCK.

Oh look, more fucking idiots that I'm reminded of that I DON'T CARE to be reminded of...yet this fucking thing pops up and I have to push a button to make it go away every time.

icon_twisted.gif Maybe it's the same guy that sends you a message, blocks you, and later on unblocks you again. Then repeat. That's so evil, but you may have really pissed this person off. idk

Is this everyday or every hour?

Edit: I did read the letter ... 8 days ago. I must have forgotten what it said. icon_cool.gif

Yes I suggested that in the letter which is in the first post of this thread. It's just every time I log on I see this stupid message. Sometimes it's not there. But either way I'm going to be in Grindr's face until it stops. =)

Me wondered it was the same user doing it for the LULZ. And if there is a chance that said person was also on RJ.

Grindr is very ban-happy, but I'm gonna play devil's advocate here. Are you one of those minorities who hits up white people and then FREAKS out and cusses them out when they don't reply? I get those once in a while. It's almost always a black dude. He hits me up. I ignore him as I ignore 95%. He takes personal offense and calls me names, sometimes claiming I'm racist. Are you that guy? Or are you just the usual guy who cusses people out anyway like me? icon_biggrin.gif Who'd you cuss out and why didn't you block them before they had the opportunity to report you? icon_wink.gif
