It's one of the best shows. Have you seen the American version? Unbelievable how much they fucked it up.

I watched the first disc from netflix, up to my ability to stay awake on a work night. It was entertaining, but I get the feeling that one disc is enough.
Mostly it made me glad that I don't have teen-age kids!

ok im not sure how American tv works or why thats only now been shown.

But the advert u posted is like 5-6 years old in the uk. Thats the first serious and its the best one. The way that it works is with ever new serious they have a whole new cast. So the rest are not as good. but yeah it is totally fucking wicked. loved serious one.

    I LOVE BRITISH SKINS!

I'm a serious, die hard fan. The American is damn trash in comparison. I happen to enjoy each season of Skins and bond with all the characters, haha. It's always sad to see the old ones leave but the new ones always have captivating stories that you get enraptured in. Last semester my friend and I went through all four seasons in a matter of two weeks.

The romance between Naomi & Emily was one of the most beautiful stories ever. And this season, my crush is on Matty. It's ridiculous. I'll be watching this show til it ends, if it ever does.

And did anyone else hear about the movie rumor?! I can only hope it's legit

I think the trend of amazing British TV shows followed by less-than-spectacular American remakes is a pretty steady trend: see The Office, Queer as Folk, and now Skins.

Haven't seen the American version at all yet, is it worth seeing?

Depends on how die-hard you are about Skins. Honestly, it isn't worth it, but I see it any way because I need something to watch and want to see the deviations.

I love the British version but I can't stand the American version. I think it somewhat is because they made they gay guy a lesbian and I just think it's dumb icon_confused.gif

It's confusing when you call it a BBC series for us Brits because they don't show it here. It's a Channel 4 program.icon_smile.gif

The British version was so much better...why? Because it was irreverant, but you actually cared about the characters and it was all happy...a lot of it ended in tragedy...where the American Verison isn't going to.

The reason they cut the gay guy is simple...MTV is not as cutting edge as people think. The gay receives a blowjob from the lead in the British series...there is no way in hell that would happen here and people would like it.

I loved the Maxxie character...he was very cute, def gay, but a tough gayboy. His parents were very accepting. and he wanted to be a dancer. I don't think that his storyline is too unrealistic. And when he came out, the Indian was the one who had issues with him.

The American version just makes you hate teenagers!! These kids are totally fucked up...spoiled kids. There are some moments with the American Skins...but I not as engaged.

As far British TV moving to America...Both QAF's were great!! The American one just took it in another direction...but it was great!! most gays didn't like it because it showed them in a light they didn't want shown, and straight people were watching it!!

the British office was a bore to me, but our office is funny, bascially because Steve Carell and the rest of the cast is brilliant.

I am really into the new show Shameless which was British series.

Lol the show is sensationalised tosh. As a brit who went to college it's about as relate able as a Rambo movie, with the same wooden acting too.

I really don't understand the appeal of the show, it's not exactly well written either.......

Just finished the first season on Netflix, heyyyo!!!

The show is sensationalized and probably irrelevant to the lives of most college (ahem, university) bound Brits, but I still loved it! I'm still wondering how, without any of them having jobs to speak of, they managed to procure all that booze and drugs :p

There's a kind of maturity and emotional realism I get from British TV that's usually lacking on ours. The characters seem more authentic, less scripted, more able to be themselves.

Tommyboy10, you're right that Maxxie's character wouldn't have passed the screen test in the US - too controversial and off-putting. Perhaps the difference is a more conservative mass audience here? Not sure about that.
