Comedian turned politico Victoria Jackson has branded the latest episode of Glee 'sickening' after it screened a gay kiss.

The devout Christian added: 'And, besides shoving the gay thing down our throats, they made a mockery of Christians – again! I wonder what their agenda is?

'Hey, producers of Glee – what's your agenda? One-way tolerance?'

Gimme a break! That is as ridiculous as two men kissing on the mouth! And I don't care what is politically correct.

'Everyone knows that two men on a wedding cake is a comedy skit, not an "alternate lifestyle"! There I said it! Ridiculous!'

    The comments section:

Freedom of speech. She has every right to say what she wants. Let's see how "tolerant" others are of it.

I don't like broccoli. I've tried it, many times, and attempted to be open minded, polite, and considerate of others who happen to like it dearly, but to no avail. I simply don't like it, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. That does not make me broccophobic, it just means I don't like it. In fact, I fear no vegetable, just as I fear no sexuality. So; when I state my general distaste for homosexuality, rest assured that my opinions are not fear-based, but are in fact legitimate. I, and the majority of the rest of humanity who don't care for homosexuality (and would not care to be exposed to it), are not homophobic. Labelling people as such when they state such opinions is a specious accusation, and attests to the shallowness of those accusers. Someone wants to be gay? Go right ahead... I'd rather not be witness to it, just as I'd rather not be subjected to it when I'm attempting to be entertained during prime time network television, such as it is.

Every single solitary TV show in the US has the diminutive, ultra cool, genius gay character. After flipping the channels here for a week you would think that 49% of the population was gay. While it is not "sickening" it is certainly redundant.
    - Torsten Stett, Boston, USA, 20/3/2011 17:15

I agree with her !!! I'm not against a person's sexuality but I am apposed to having it shoved down my throat by a TV program.
    - Holly, USA, 20/3/2011 11:16

Are Christians the only ones in the world who are not allowed to be offended? Why would Christians not be offended if this is an assault on their worldview? Open sexuality, of any type, aimed at kids / young adults is just as offensive as graphic violence. Why can't we leave some things to the imagination?
    - Disgusted, Carolina, USA, 20/3/2011 16:40

Whenever someone dissents from what is now the fascism of political correctness, IMMEDIATELY that person is a homophobe, a sexist, a racist, etc etc Freedom of Speech for US but not YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bouhahhahahahahahha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    - Alex, Ground Zero, 20/3/2011 11:13

Thank you Victoria, Keep fighting the PC crowd. Your comments were not a rant. Rather, they were your opinion.
    - Mike (Ret Lt Cdr USN, Huntsville, AL,

I couldn't agree with her more. Let the red arrows commence.
    - crass, USA, 20/3/2011 14:40

I tend to agree with her, as would a majority of Americans. The simple truth is, a gay, liberal, pro-big-government agenda is being jammed down our collective throats. It's pushed in the schools and universities, on TV and the movies and ultimately the media. I don't think most people have a problem with homosexuality, but I do think it's overrepresented. And here in is the problem. Most young people are now getting a false or inaccurate impression of the real world and more a representation of how the liberals who control the media would like it to be, and are trying to change it to be.
    - JB, USA, 20/3/2011 13:39

I would like to see journalists stop using the term "homophobic" to descride somebody that is anti-gay. I'll bet Ms Jackson is not scared of gays, but just doesn't support their life choice (yes, choice - not genetics - there is no gay gene).

When two women tongue each other down on TV it's "erotic" and "sensual", but when two dudes peck kiss it's considered "gross" and "shoving it down people's throat" and referred to as the "militant homosexual agenda that is brainwashing children"

Dear God, another person gone wacko. Makes me sick to think I laughed at her sketches. I wonder how the current SNL cast members feel. And if she worked on SNL in NYC she must have been around tons of gay people.

    "shoved down our throats"

Mer, they best go see a doctor!

Notice how these homophobes never once complained when Jack and Rose kissed on the Titanic, let a lone fucked in the backseat of a car. God forbid if that is ever "shoved down our throats!"

Why are all these Americans suddenly reading and commenting on the Daily Mail?

The double standard is kinda sad though. In a way it's funny that it's always the religious people (a chosen trait) who say that being gay is a choice.

Naturally this represents a perfect example of the double standard: completely acceptable behavior when WE do it, but perverted & wrong when YOU do it. We can express our sexuality because it's RIGHT, but you can't express yours because it's WRONG. Our telling you how to morally behave is OK, but if you propose a different version of our arbitrary moral values then you are being "politically correct" (PC).

I also note above a reference to a contradiction that has always puzzled me. Straight men are often turned on by a lesbian sex scene, which frequently appear in men's magazines and in straight porn vids. But they'll become enraged if 2 men so much as hold hands. (On the other hand, it's perfectly acceptable to slap another guy's bare butt, provided it's in the locker room)

Apparently the issue isn't really same-gender sex at all, but a matter of what gets a straight guy's dick hard. If the dick gets hard, it's approved. If it stays soft, it's condemned.

It's not really a contradiction. Homophobia is a product of misogyny. In this worldview, gay men must be explicitly condemned for 'diminishing' what constitutes man itself. By subverting the hierarchy, adopting the role of the woman [in this view], gay men are an implicit threat to the supremacy of men. Since women are [according to such people] inferior, their transgression is irrelevant. The assumption is that same-sex attraction in women is purely an exercise to titillate men.

It is interesting that some remnant of the above worldview is often observed on this forum: whenever we have a discussion about effeminate gay men, pride, drag queens there is a deep misunderstanding. Gay men, whether 'straight acting' or not are inherently subversive according to the inner logic of those who oppose us and there is absolutely no way whatsoever to resolve this through conformity to societal norms.

Wow. What happened to her? She's really gone off the deep end. She thinks Obama is the anti-Christ? Sounds like somebody or group got a hold of her. This whole right-wing, Tea Party, fundamentalist Christian thing seems more and more like a cult to me. A very scary cult.

Shoved down her throat? Well you know what, I don't like all those heteros / breeders on TV all the time, procreating on screen. So why don't you ban those from the media too.

Watch this interview. Even the FauxNews guy is having a hard time keeping a straight face. I think this whole right-wing nutjob thing is just a shtick. One of the commentators had this theory comparing her to Andy Kaufman. If this were a serious interview, why is she still doing the airhead bit? Or maybe she really is just an airhead?

In my experience many people accept Lesbians with open arms and legs, but lwhen it comes to male Homosexuality it becomes something eww, gross, and revolting. Typical.

    As Bill Maher once said:

"Let's face it. When people talk about homosexuality being unnatural and an abomination, they're not talking about the women. No, no, they're talking about the men. Nobody seems to find anything so abominable about Britney Spears tonguing Madonna. Or Gina Gershon in bed with Jennifer Tilly... No, in America, when a man puts something in another man, it had better be a bullet."

Imagine if Black Swan had a gay male sex scene it would be lambasted as promoting a nefarious "gay agenda" and it would be seen as trying to "normalize Homosexuality (male)" and would be shown in only a few theaters or be straight to DVD, but Black Swan's rug munching scene receive accolades and is considered "artsy" "tender" and erotic.

So sick of the Faux Liberal Trash Media and their double standards.

Two dudes or more torturing each other or beating the shit out of each other cool, two dudes showing affection "icky" "gross"

The Liberal Trash Media only accepts Homosexuality (Male) when it is shown in a caricaturisticcomedic light. But would never dare , don't show two guys intimate with each other because that will just disgust and offend the viewers. I mean after all we have to promote traditional values to Heterosexual America. Yeah right with all the bloody fluffing violence on TV, that is deemed more acceptable than two males kissing briefly. icon_rolleyes.gif

Isn't it funny that the Media never reinforces Lesbian Stereotypes i.e., portraying them as aggressive, morbidly obese bull dykes?

Straight boys would lose their masturbatory material if the Media showed Lesbians as their stereotypes and not as Heterosexual men see them (i.e. playboy models engaging in girl on girl action.

    Gay men Wake up!

Is it really worthy of comment? Anyone who knows the Daily Wail knows it panders to the bigotry of a certain type of person (ie a bit thick and narrow minded).

In my opinion it's very important when their are 100s of thumbs up for anti-gay comments. And to point out the Media never gets criticized when it shows explicit lesbianism and violent content, but Buddha forbid 2 dudes even remotely touch each other. I'm tired of the hypocrisy. It shows larger society hasn't expanded it's views towards Male Homosexuality. That's what hurts the most. icon_neutral.gif
