I'm planning to head on a mini-road trip there to check the area out, and wondering what are some good places that are a must to check out? I'm going solo and planning on just relaxing and hopefully meeting a bunch of people platonically icon_smile.gif

I love going out in Wilton Manors. The guys are a lot more friendly and down-to-earth than here in South Beach where I live. Get prepared to feel REALLY young, though. I always have a good time at Georgie's Alibi and Boardwalk.

KnuxHole, if I am not mistaken, Art_Deco here lives in WM and would be a perfect source for you to talk to.

Georgie's Alibi (on Wilton Drive), a landmark
Rosie's (also Wilton Drive, lovely for lunch)
Scandals (on 6th north of Wilton Drive, best at night, a bit C&W)
Sidelines (sports bar on the Drive, somewhat lesbian)
Tropics (again on the Drive, best thing they do is Sunday brunch, phone for reservations, very elderly crowd)
Living Room (Fort Lauderdale, much younger & trendy crowd)
Boardwalk (FtL on the edge of Wilton Manors, trashy gay strip joint)

E-mail when you arrive, I'll try to guide you.

Yes, Ive been to two gay clubs at South Beach twice. The experience was meh, it wasn't bad, but I went by myself so I felt shy/awkward and I didn't talk to anyone. Checked out Score and Twist. The music was cool, the Lincoln Road/Collins area is pretty sweet, and the bartenders were hot icon_wink.gif

And great suggestions, definitely checking some of those out icon_biggrin.gif

Well, it's hard to go to gay bars/clubs alone. Period. People tend to stick with the people they came with for security and rarely branch out from that group. However, some places and some clubs are worse than others. You'll have more success meeting people up in Ft. Lauderdale. If in South Beach, you'll have more success at Twist than Score. The guys are a lot more friendly and have less of a pack mentality at Twist than Score. Not sure why. Same neighborhood, different crowd.

I can vouch for Georgie's Alibi - which is just kind of a casual, neighborhood type place, Rosie's - I liked their brunch, and Living Room - it was a mixed crowd when I was there, which I think gives a really nice vibe and makes it more fun.
